Hello there,

I've been going through the search function and I could not find a thread that has a mixture of the brands of Action/Sports camera that are available on the market.

For starters, I've tried both GoPro Hero and XiaoMi's Yi camera but to be very honest and considering the price between the two, I could not really differentiate the two. Note though, I've been using them for only a few days just for testing purposes and during different road trips/events only. (Both belonged to my friends as I was using a mirrorless myself).

The main purpose for the thread is to discuss and compare the different brands of action cameras that are available on the market and hopefully I'd get to test them in due course. For now, everyone could give their opinions and reviews on the different brands that they have used before in order to give an insight for possible new users.

On a side note, I'd most likely be ordering a SJCAM SJ4000 or a VicTsing for personal tries soon. I have doubts on SJCAM though as there are a lot of fakes around in the market.

Anyways, if any, thanks for all the upcoming inputs!

go pro or don't go any thing at all. period.

SJcam is also a fake too. a fake of the original GoPro. it's just that it's more reliable than most fakes so it's popular.

in the end, it's up to the buyer. if u're into quality, glorious 4k 30fps and best quality image, get a GoPro. if u're a poorfag, get the rest.

like u say, technology comes so great and the mini sensor hit a wall that any actioncam basically give similar fhd output. so output doesnt play huge roles anymore, nor is lowlight capability. (yi camera uses sony sensor)

to me, choosing action camera is base on
1. what you going to use it for (swimming? rock climbing?)
2. where do you plan to mount it (will it need stabilizer or not, are you going to mount it still or mount it on a washing machine?)
3. does it get affected by wind current (race bike? safety issue)
