Would like to have some advice on renovation of my apartment. Its new, nothing done yet. Due to limited budget, might want to start with kitchen first. The rest will leave it later when have budget to continue. Size is 1320sq. Need some advice: Do I have to start with only the kitchen first or plaster ceiling ? Is 10k-15k sufficient just for the kitchen with a mini bar? Thanks. Location :BM, Penang Welcome any ID or kitchen cabinet supplier to contact me. EDIT: Photo added. Second pic is the outside where I plan to build a mini bar with high chairs. This post has been edited by lipfung: Apr 20 2016, 11:56 AM Attached thumbnail(s)

Hi Lip, Im based in KL so wont be able to help you out. But it really depends on what kind of materials you are looking at. For example, if you wanted to go budget. Then definitely will be able to get it done with that amount. But if you plan to do quartz or solid surface you might not be able to. Check up on some specs and what you might be looking at and give us more details to help you out

How Big is your kitchen..any pics? Normally Plaster Ceiling is done first, unless you want to hide wiring on the plaster then you need to do it simultaneously.

if you wan better advise you will need 1) Post a layout of your kitchen with detail measuremetns 2) Snap some photos of your kitchen area
with these two items, you can walk into any shop and get quotation, no need waste time ask them go your house for site measurements.
Cost effective Material : table top = TILES Cabinet = Melamine
You will hear many stories dont use melamine bcoz this and that, i m using it for 3 years still like brand new, no issue

Kitchen Photo attached. The layout with measurement, I don't have it now. Will get it from development later. 10-15k not sufficient to renovate only the kitchen? Didn't know the market now is so expensive only for kitchen cabinet. So I will need to do the plaster ceiling first before the kitchen yea? Possible to hide the wiring in the plaster on later stage? As the rest of my apartment still got works to be done. This post has been edited by lipfung: Apr 20 2016, 11:56 AM

I think do your wiring and hacking first, then only you do plaster ceiling, im sure you want to install downlights. Melamine is the cheapest option but I do not know how it will last. If you have wetworks then I suggest to cement body and then tiles on top.

Rightfully your plaster ceiling should be up & ready before kc installation. When capentry came, they will take site measurements from floor to ceiling to customise the wall & base units & also your lighting points, etc.
Maybe it's good to at least take your own kitchen measurements as a rough guide for kitcheners to quote you.

Thanks for the feedback. Guess I will start to look for plaster ceiling and plan my lighting outlet first.
