hahahaha actually we Malaysian like malls...no doubt, all malls have a chance to make it when you OPEN !!! not open then see how !! hahaha

shah alam also has its failure like U5 or something...fuu that one worst.

the part I don't get it with Da men is... they can see summit , main place , one city , empire , subang parade , sunway pyramid and you can actually do the math already what's the ingredient required to make it happen! Yet time and time again they open to struggle !! hahahaha

Aeon at shah alam on the other hand..went for concrete bet! ( my opinion ) they cut and paste the whole mall from Klang bukit tinggi aeon....I mean literally everything even the signage and they add a few upper class tenant... uniqlo,h&M and the living index furniture nailed it !! this is what I call " got do homework" compare to da men...

Amid all the responses here, I think yours makes the most sense and substance. I think this is the main problem, DM has no 'pulling' factor for anyone to go there.....when you have a gang of malls surrounding it, why would anyone leave their 'faithful' mall which they are familiar with to go to a place which is still quite jammed and the tenants are a bunch of nobodies? All these new taiwanese shops carry no value IMO, if I'm not familiar with them why would I waste time leaving other malls like Parade, Empire, Pyramid to go to DaMen? No cinema as well.

So far it looks weak, their little 'tricks' like free parking for RM30 purchase and nonsense....it's just not good enough. Unlike many here who seem to post just to 'celebrate' this mall struggling, I genuinely wish DM can succeed since I'm vested in a condo nearby. If DM succeeds, it's only good for the condos around it. But so far it's been very poor and I'm sorry to see the state of DM. They really need to do some big events to get people to become familiar with this place, and for goodness sake, bring in/force a few big reputable brands (which other malls nearby DON'T HAVE) to open up in DM.

more like Guan men needs to watch out once Summit done with renovations.

I've been visiting summit once in a while, and so far all their 'work' seems to be coming to nothing. New lights, new flooring (which makes not much difference) other than that, its still an old lame looking mall.

Don't get me wrong, I want Summit to succeed more than Da Men if possible but very disappointed with what I've seen so far.

Sure or not ? It's been 2-3 yrs already since they started renovating and all they did was some touchup ? I had the impression that they extended the floor area by building outwards ?A brand new mall can be constructed from stretch within the same time period.

Well, I'm speaking after seeing the progress with my own eyes....and I used to frequent Summit few years back when I was living in Impian Meridian. So yeah, pretty sure.

Good to see Da Men picking up! biggrin.gif

Summit and DM should join forces and build a bridge to each other. Make a 'supermall' for USJ 1. Summit looks good from the outside now, but not gone inside for some time.

interior wise it looks like it's done. GSC lobby has moved to the next floor. still some work going on at the carpark entrance and at the back exterior. based on AMReit announcement, summit hotel is the next to undergo refurbishment

You're kidding right? I was there just last week, the inside still looks old and gloomy. Lights have changed but the shops and all have the same old look. The outside seems to be done, looks great but I really hope they are FAR from done for the inside! I wish Summit all the best since I want the place to come back to glory days, but what I saw last week (inside) was far from impressive.

damen should have a bridge to summit.
damen after eating no activities , at least summit got TGV there

Exactly, this can really help both malls. But since they're owned by different people it might never happen. Though in this case it can only make both malls stronger.

perhaps that could be the 1 of the reasons why the mall suffers from poor crowd from the very beginning..  hmm.gif

They overestimated this gimmick of trying to only attract the Chinese market....big mistake. Looks like they finally realized it. It's really not smart to look very 'welcoming' only for a certain race which is only a small minority of the country. Yes, Chinese are 3rd largest now...Bangladesh/Indon population is now larger than Chinese. Unofficial but true data.

I remember DaMen did 1 page colour ad in major newspaper..

don't tell me people not aware of the mall existence after the ad hmm.gif  devil.gif

Nobody buys newspapers to see if any new malls have come up. That is just dumb advertizing.

From what I see of DM, its just not loud enough. The outside looks like a very expensive looking office building and a smallish mall which doesn't hold a candle to others like Pyramid or even Empire. Empire is booming mostly because of the pubs and hangouts which is very obvious from outside.

DM has some lousy taiwanese eateries inside which are no-name brands, and nothing else special or holds any selling point.

No cinema, no special activities....I never understood the point of this mall when it was selling and still don't understand it. I wish it can do very well since I own units at Impian which is close by but I think there's not much hope. Would be scary to be an owner of the units here, especially during this prop downturn.

Still think if they build a bridge between DM and Summit, it will help both malls prosper.
