1. Use Mate 8 backup apps to backup to MicroSD Card
2. Unlock Bootloader - will erase data not sure if all the data
3. After unlock I think personal data and apps is erased.
4. Will use Mate Backup to Restore the backup data from the MicroSD

Go to Whatsapp setting and do local backup. After that copy Whatsapp folder in your storage to the new phone. Install Whatsapp on the new phone and Whatsapp will detect the storage and ask whether you want to restore the backup.
