now the most important question...

acoustic or electric?

for electrics most place will charge about RM50...acoustics there could be other problems involved.

Depends on the severity of the condition. Best case scenario, just have to check your saddles and frets, change strings, polish off the parts..... Worse case... parts have to be replaced including the pickups, tuners..... the works....

But don't expect to pay anything less then RM50 just for even a checkup...... if it's the worse case scenario, then yeah........ could be RM100+++ or more.

This guitar was dropped from standing position, and landed on the side of its head, causing it to snap off. The broken part still fits properly as it is a clean break.

Question is, what is the best and most cost effective method of fixing this problem and restoring it back to usable condition? Is there anywhere in PJ area that can do these repairs?

Any help GREATLY appreciated smile.gif

I'm afraid the headstock might be beyond repair. Maybe you could bring it to a guitar store nearby and ask?

that is not beyond repair.

since you say its a clean crack...
if you're confident, go get some proper wood glue.
just pour it in and wipe off any excess.
then you might have to clamp it so it lays flat.
then let it dry for about 2-3 days.

else i think tham in PJ should be able to do it, his number is somewhere in here, go search tongue.gif

This break is hardly serious and should be an easy fix for any competent luthier like Tham or GG.

Please keep trying to call them and once you manage to get hold of either one of them, then ask for thier personal details (address and etc.)

Their contact number can be found at this thread, post number 3. Music Shops, Luthiers & Jamming/Recording Studios

The reason why they won't allow us to post thier personal details on the forum is because these guys are doing all these service on thier free will, which means they won't over-price you, but don't expect you call now, they answer and they attend to you tomolow.

Oh yea, it can be repaired, I have seen worse before ..... smile.gif

Guitar necks are quite hard to order in. Your best bet is to look online......
Even that, you need to accurately measure the neck width and whatnot.

Why do you need to change the neck btw?

You might want to try contacting Bentley, since they're the local Ibanez distributor/dealer. But I'm not sure if they can get for you an Ibanez neck, since Ibanez is pretty strict with selling individual parts (especially necks) due to potential counterfeiting.

Oh, and you might want to refrain from posting this same message in so many threads... wink.gif

what you did to custom it?
and that crack behind the first fret is pretty common problem.
due to a combo of pencil thin necks and overtighten of locking nut.

the edward listed above your post can refinish too.
i just had one of mine refinished to black using nitro cellulose.
price depends on your guitar and where you want.

i think edward will charge around rm500 for refinishing a guitar, that will also depand on what paint material you are using.
