What is the estimate cost for wall skimming process for double story house? Do we paint the wall first then only go for skimming or skim first before paint? Looking expert for explanation on this.... Do recom which contractor provide such service..

skimming is a surface preparation treatment...

painting is an aesthetic surface final treatment...

my common sense explanation... but open to further arguments..

Neww house doesnt mean smooth wall . Some acceptable but of course if u skim it sure better. Ive seen wall of my relative's house as smooth as tile but the price costs a bomb .

I clad my walls with broke stones or marble. All DIY. Only need polymer glue. Too lazy to paint yearly.

Fuh....but mine is because the new walls skimming are all included in the wet works, hence he only charge an additional RM 1.5k for other existing walls...

wall skimming + interior (around 18x40sf) painting works + exterior (car porch area) painting works + 3 rooms (master bedroom, 2 small rooms) painting works = rm3600.

is this reasonable price? fyi, paint need to buy ownself..

Tumpang thread, skimming's purpose is to level and smoothen the wall so it's not uneven, then easier to install kitchen cabinets or wardrobe's too kan?

Skimming is more to smoothen the wall . Normally place that will install cabinet wont have to do skimming to save cost . Normally they will use white silicon to seal the gap between your cabinet and wall . Leave that to your cabinet contractor they should know what to do .

Thanks telur! I'm also asking because for my floors I'm not doing any skirting... and now that the tiles are put on, can see the walls are not straight, wonder if skimming will help straighten it...
