Project details on MRT3 (circle line) is currently being finalised by the Land Public Transport Commission. Cabinet approval is anticipated by mid-2018 with project rollout in early-2019. The circle line will integrate with other radial lines from the MRT, LRT, Monorail and KTM via its orbital alignment, commonly known as the “wheel and spokes” concept. As it will pass through densely populated areas with high buildings, a large portion of its alignment will be underground. This plays in Gamuda’s favour as it can undertake a higher degree of underground works given its experience with MRT1 and MRT2. Media reports have stated that MRT3 could span 45km to 48km in length and cost RM50 billion.

2022 - estimate MRT 2 complete and operate

MRT 3 is fully/mostly underground station, expect more time to deliver.

Is this hint for MRT 3 only completed in 2027 in their plan? If this is their estimation only, MRT 3 may be can complete in 2030 then. tongue.gif

by the way, e-haling service have been legalized in Singapore last year or beginning of this year. Malaysia is not the first country.

KUALA LUMPUR, July 30 — The recent legalisation of e-hailing services such as Uber and Grabcar is an important milestone for the Malaysian public, according to Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai.

“It (legalisation) shows that Malaysian public transportation is moving into the digital era (by providing digital services). We are confident that it will be a more efficient service… I would say that it is an important milestone for Malaysians,” he told reporters after attending the Young Malaysians Movement (YMM) 45th Annual General Assembly held here, today.

Around 300 members of the non-profit organisation for Chinese youths gathered at the event, which was also attended by YMM president Chew Sir Boon and Terengganu State Assembly Speaker Datuk Mohd Zubir Embong.

Liow said the legalisation would also help the country to achieve its 40 per cent public transportation modal share target by 2030.

“By 2027, the Mass Rapid Transit project would be completed and by then all linkages within the city would be really enhanced...all these would further enhance public transportation in Malaysia, so as to achieve the 40 per cent target,” he said.

Liow also said that public transportation services such as Uber, taxis and buses would help provide last-mile connection because of the need for these types of transportation and last-mile support.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri was reported as saying that Malaysia created history as the first country to legally recognise using e-hailing services such as Uber and Grabcar as a public transport service when the bill on it was passed in the Parliament last Thursday (July 27). — Bernama

KUALA LUMPUR: Plans to fast-track the MRT3 Circle Line construction before 2027 are being studied, said Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai (pic).

The Transport Minister said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has given the green light for the proposal as it would help spur the development of Greater Kuala Lumpur.

"We have planned for the completion of MRT2 by 2022 and MRT3 by 2027.

"However, looking at the benefits of the MRT, the ministry is proposing if we can bring forward the construction of MRT3," he told reporters after launching the Sustainable Urban Transport Summit 2017 on Tuesday.

He added that several agencies such as the Economic Planning Unit, Land Public Transport Commission and the Prime Minister's Department are involved in the study.

Liow noted that the early completion of MRT3 would be in tandem with the completion of the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) and High-Speed Rail (HRS) in 2024 and 2026.

"This will allow better mobility within Greater Kuala Lumpur which will see an influx of tourists and people," he added.

The second phase of the 51km MRT Sungai Buloh-Kajang (SBK) line was launched on July 17. Phase 2 of the line runs from the Semantan station to the Kajang station and has 19 stations across 30km.

This follows the launch of Phase 1 of the SBK line last December.

The MRT2 will see the construction of the Sungai Buloh-Serdang-Putrajaya line while MRT3 is third and final line of the Klang Valley MRT.
