im planning to get a compaq laptop, model V3796TU to be precise. just want to ask some few q before purchasing, since the RAM is 1gb only, can I buy my own laptop ram and add it myself? will it void the warranty? anybody has this notebook? is compaq reliable?

thanks for the info! btw, the v3796 comes with 2x 256mb ram, is it possible to request for 1x 1gb ram? since there's only 2 sodimm slots, i wanna add 1gb more

all v3000 series is compatible with vista.compatible means work with..doesnt mean works great.so tink twice.i wont recomend vista thou.haha.either with XP or downgrade to ME.

don't simply format your lappy, find all the important drivers first or else after formatting your hardware might malfunction.

normally you can dl drivers at the manufacturer's website, just search for your model
