Using a V3125 and just installed Vista 32-bit on it. The overall performance rating is 3.0, which i think is not too bad since all Aero features are able to run smoothly.

Cheers.

hm... U must try NGO NVIDIA OPTIMISED DRIVER!!! work like a charm....

aniways regarding the audio issue... 3250 uses conexant.... but somehow mine cant detect either... so I do this connect to the internet (Broadband) and s\when reinstalling the driver select let windows search for driver on internet!!!! then all works perfect!!!!
*
How's the performance of the NGO driver? How's the temperature? If all it does is to overclock our video cards, then it will do more harm than good. The lifetime of the laptop will be shorten. Please commnent on that and does anyone else use that driver also? Please share your experience.

Thanks.

but how about v3203AU(AMD) for softwares such as MATLAB and SOLIDWORKS? does it lag when running those softwares? anyone that has this laptop can comment? I was considering buying Intel Core2 Duo...now..looks like im gonna change my mind..but I dunno if AMD is a good choice... rclxub.gif

I got the AMD one and I'm using Matlab and Simulink for my PhD. No problem so far. Very fast and efficient.

Hi,

Im using V3125 for more than 6mths now. So far no prob. Very good. Sometimes it also depends on how you treat your laptops. Treating it well and always be careful while handling it do play a part in prolonging its life.

Just my 2cents.

Cheers.

v3000 series AMD X64 OR INTEL CORE DUO?

WHICH ONE IS BETTER?

1. BATTERY?

2. HEAT?

3. PERFORMANCE?

4. GRAPHIC?
*
Been using my V3000 AMD X2 for half a year now and here are what i found compared to my friend's Intel Core Duo.

1) Batter life --> Intel Core 2 Duo (round 3 hrs) Better than AMD X2 = Intel Core Duo (2.5 hrs)

2) Heat --> AMD = Intel

3) Performance --> Intel Core 2 Duo slightly faster than Intel Core Duo = AMD X2 (which is already fast in my opinion)

4) Graphics --> AMD definitely faster and better than Intel (both Core 2 Duo and Core Duo). I could play FEAR 1 and 2 with AMD at medium setting.

Overall, I prefer AMD due to the nVidia Graphics and also the 64-bit processor (unless you want Intel Core 2 Duo of which I think is overpriced). I don't care much about the battery life because I'm using with the AC power plugged in most of the time and 2.5 hrs is good enough for me.

Just my 2 cents. Cheers...

GRAPHICS: Updating to the latest NVIDIA FORCEWARE (alexus)

"the latest forceware is version 93.71, you'll have to edit the nv4_disp.inf file to make it to install on geforce go 6150."

just add the two line below into the inf file:

%NVIDIA_C51.DEV_0244.1% = nv4_NV3x,PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0244
NVIDIA_C51.DEV_0244.1 = "NVIDIA Geforce Go 6150"
How to do it for windows vista? Is it the same?
*
Actually, the latest version now is 94.24.

Cheers :-)

Question:
i gt my v3000 lappie by last pc fair..
gt into a serious prob..when i play DOTA half way the screen went into strips and jammed..after that it wont on back to the log in screen.
i try the manual start up by pressing the power button.the lights are on but no screen.not even the startup compaq logo..it went blank..
my assumption is the motherboard failure..nd a new motherboard replaced...
any experts trying to solve my prob here?m i right with my assumption?

using the v3010 free dos turion x2 series.
*
You know what? I encountered the same prob here. Turn on can only see the blue lights. Sent to the service center this morn and see how they are going to repair it. My suspicion is the motherboard.

Will report when i get my 'wife' back...:-)

Cheers

well...I think the problem is with the monitor itself....
If its with the motherboard....other components would f been affected also.
So both of ul are using V3000 is it?
Hows the laptop?
*
I can confirm with you that it's the motherboard problem. The lights are on because they still get the power from the battery/AC adapter.

I am utterly disappointed with this laptop. Bought in Nov 2006, just about a year ago and has gone through 2 repairs.....both also change mobo.

Im using V3125 running on AMD.

Will be switching to other brand after this. Fed up of the quality of the Compaq laptop.

amd-based lappie.common factors are like heat.heat from ur graphic card caused the screen to loose its function.other than that would be virus?or r u online at that time?

choongjoey
would it be nice if u state the model?its written at the COA behind ur lappie.1gb ram is sufficient, but not smooth.thats all.and AGAIN, add rams wont void ur waranty.add it urself.i would say a free lappie is consider cheap.how do u define CHEAP & EXPENSIVE??mind elaborate.

nkymark
read.the affecting models only lie on those without webcams..v30xx, v31xx, v32xx, v33xx and v34xx.

Dude, this is a V3000 forum. Some of the users here have been having the laptop since the first release: no webcams. And some didnt know there's a new BIOS out there.

wat do u mean by that?mind to explain?if im not wrong the v30xx falls on the 5th batch.mine the 2nd batch.thats all.u very sure theres no v3000 lappies with webcams?clarify before banging.
*
hey bro,

Im not banging you. Don't la so sensitive tongue.gif . It's just that some early batches of this laptop (V3125 for example) has no built-in webcam (unless you were talking bout external ones and i misunderstood that). I know because I own one. Anyhow, my purpose of posting that is to let people know that there's this Free Repair Service available if your laptop is affected and that there's a new BIOS version for everyone.

And batches count is determined by second number. For example, 6th batch is V35xx. V30xx is actually the very first batch of the laptop. Only the latest ones have webcam.
