hi guys..i got a problem here..

i owned a Compaq V3250..

my prob is...i can hear a soft hissing or cricket(insect) or buzzing sound...or scratching or watever sound from the left side of my laptop..near to the speaker and TAB button area there..i'm not sure whether the sound comes from the speaker itself or not..

i turned the laptop over n i listen both to the hardisk n memory compartment,i can hear the sound...i dunno wat's wrong and the sound i reli annoying..even though is juz a soft sound..

can anybody offer a help or try to indentify the problem for me??? or shud i bring it to the shop tat i bought my laptop from n let them fix it?

any idea wat's the cause to that prob?? can tell me your experiences to such probs?

i got one year warranty from them..as i'm n kl studying now..gonna go back penang to do tat warranty stuff i guess..

claim straight from HP or go to the shop where i bought the lappie from which is in penang?

inputs from other forumers are welcome..thanks!

btw..might be a noobie question..pardon me...does claiming warranty needs me to pay anything?

oh..hmm..u mean.. let say the fault lies in my hdd,they will change the mobo itself also plus the hhd?? or the hdd alone? wil it cost me $$$?? sorry ya...i feel like i sound so noobie...i never have any warranty prob other devices i used...let say i did accidentally ter-knock it le,will i still be able to claim warranty for it?anyway..i take good care of it..dun think i terknock it hard on anything..

hopefully it's not a major prob....thanks for the answer..

btw,how long did they took to get ur lappie done???

hmm.. another hint for you guys would be..

when i scroll down or up using my mouse or the touchpad..it will give give tat kind of sound..like scratching plastic or something lidat or the buzzin sound..i really dunno how to categorize the sound..or somehow like the un-tuned radio channel..where u get all the distortions..it's just softer compared to the radio thingy..

anyhow..there's a constant sound..kinda un-noticeable under normal conditions unless u put your ear there..but as you do some scrolling,there would be an additional louder buzzing of it..i really tried to figure out where does the sound came from..for the past few days,i heard the sound coming the left side of the laptop..as of today when i wrote this reply,i tried to listen to it agin and tried to pin-point the source of tat sound..i came to notice that the loudest sound came from the place around keypad W, E, R, 3 and 4..

so i dont think it's the fan..the fan wouldnt follow my mouse scrolling..so any idea wat is it??

i don't have much time for now..gonna have my final exam soon..so i gues i'll wait for another moment to get it fixed..so in a meanwhile,i just wanna identify the problem b4 i send it for repair..

1.how do i really get there besides the rm10 taxi drive there?? any other options??btw,i'm lving in setapak area..

2.how do deal with them? like when u first enter..ask who and etc..i hope u can help me in this area..

3.is the hp bios mobo better than the current one tat i have in my lappie?

thanks for tellling me ya...i went to towers yest. afternoon...managed to get everything done smoothly..the lady who attended to me talkk to me nicely n surprisingly,she's from penang too..haha..anyway,she told me they'll fix it in 3 working days..hopefully by then,all the sounds will go back to hell d..then i can play aroun my lappie with a happy n peaceful heart..lol..

haha..she's a malay le,bro..lol..had a quick chat with her and she asked me to fill in some details..then i cabut d..currently using my bro's lappie when he's not using..!!

btw..i installed vista on it earlier b4 i sent it for repair..under the 'device manger',got two warning or something lidat...one is 'coprocessor' and another is 'unknown device'..both also under the same tab..any idea?

haha..to whoever it is..not only u,my fren..hehe..anyway..yup,i'm using vista ultimate..erm,quite slow..my ram baru 512mb..tak cukup to reli get it move tat fast yet i guess..need to get more ram for the hungry vista..i like most of it compared to winxp..minow changes here n there..but i like it..so far no plans to move back to winxp yet...haha...

as for the unknown device thingy..i guess shud be the quicklaunch thingy...juz the 'coprocessor' thingy..might be due to my dual core processor..any idea from any pros out there??

do u have the coprocessor warning there oso while using vista????

hmm..1gb ram oso not so efficient n smooth ah?? i think i'll consider 2 gb ram oso d..btw,wat's the lappie's maximum capacity of ram??

if cn go up to 4 gb..might as well hentam it...2x2gb ram..if not,i'll stick to 2gb..

is ur aero thingy on oso??i turned a few things off n disable some stuff..i guess tat would help abit..

anyway..wat's the advantage of a SATA hdd? no such warning ah?? aiyo.. !! u go to your device manager...usually when u dun have your driver installed for a particular hardware or wat,got a warning wan right? wont pop-out le..!

i'm quite used to winxp too..but somehow still enjoying vista..lol...it's nicer in a way..!

i got 512mb d..if i go get a 1gb ram..then tat would be 1.5gb in total..shud be alrite d i guess if 2gb ram is kinda expensive!

oh..aero thing oso turned on ah? i off it wan..it's kinda nice,but tat would slow down your comp a bit..unless u have a good comp on the other end..then i wouldnt advise u to turn it off..

i forgot wat i turned off oso d..couldnt rmb..u know sometimes end u try to install software or tweak the comp settings and etc,ur screen will get darken rite n got a pop up asking u whether u wanna proceed or something lidat rite? can off tat too..u can google on hw to tweak vista and speed up ur comp n etc..i turned the system restore thingy off too..and oso the remote assistance or something lidat..all these services or watever u call it hogging on ram background..anyway,vista still use more ram when ur comp is in idle mode..it will try to make full use or ur ram..tat was wat i read on the net...correct me if i'm wrong..i saw the memory left on the task manager was 2mb the other day...

anyhow..my lappie is in hp tower's hospital now..they still havent call me yet..hopefully by monday or tuesday,i can get back..then i'll most probably gonna get 1gb ram to add into it soon..

i jus got my lappie back..

after claiming it from the person in charge..i look at the printed form..it stated down there my speaker was faulty n they replaced it. i double-checked the lappie b4 i went off..the sound is still there..then they brought it to the testing section..then the guy tot the buzzing sound comes out when i press the keyboard...which is now..i told him..when i scroll my mouse,got sound coming out from the left hand sie of the lappie..then he told me it's normal to have such sound..either he's stupid or pure ignorance..dont tell me it's normal to have sound coming out when u sroll ur mouse..that's so stupid..he said tat the hard disk is writing or something lidat..if tat's so,i guess the hdd's life is almost near to its end of life in this world..

my guess is that the sound comes out either from the hdd or ram or the speaker...i'll be heading to some comp service centre in lowyat or wat to get it checked..HP banyak lousy..

i dont have the coprocessor driver too...anyone??

i tot was some faulty stuff...hdd or wat..tat was y i sent it for repair..i din know tat..my best fren juz told me tat his fren also have such prob..he's using amd too..but diff model...

bububang,r uing AMD too? i guessit's part of AMD's processor thingy or their motherboard or wat..hmm...hate tat sound actually!!

ic ic..hmm,we need more amd users to confirm this problem..if it's a general prob for every user,i guess we cant do much.. get any new laptop i suppose..my bro is using V2000 series...running intel celeron..but his is much quieter than mine..sometimes when everything is quiet,it gets knda annoying to hear tat sound..macam the laptop rosak..speaker rosak,hdd rosak or wat lidat..it gives a bad feeling to myself..anyway,other than tat..i have no complaints regarding the lappie...

i plan to upgrade the memory ram...but i heard got some compatibility issues regarding a few brands..any reco?? i plan to get 1 gb ram..n i heard muz get a matching ram do to the dual channel thingy...i dun reli understand some of it..r double sided rams more expensive??anyway,the lappie came with a 512mb..i dowan to waste it if possible.. btw,wat's the maximum ram we can put in?? 2gb rite?

erm..u try to go to the hp website n search for your model and get ur drivers there.. or u try update the driver using device manager manually..

need high requirements to run linux os-es???

wah...no drivers ah??? how to work??? anyway,i'm downloadin ubuntu now..wanna test it out..i heard got livecd thingy..means do i still need the drivers? anyway,i'll stick to vista or xp...no other os-es...lol...
