Just download the latest hp wireless assistant from compaq website. You can still extend your warranty with hp at higher price.

Well just wish to share something. My model is V 3011 AU bought it in September last year. Recently the laptop just could not boot up, got light but there is no start up and screen just black. So, luckily i am on HP ONE CARE with extended 3 years warranty. So called up the HP and after initial over the phone trouble shooting, the guy said he would sent an engineer to my office to fix the laptop. It was very frustrated as i called 6 times and the guys over the phone either said that he would ask the engineer to call me once they receive order or just ask me to wait. So i get a bit piss off. So it was Friday and after shouting at the phone, i decided to wait till Monday. Monday morning a guy called up and he came to fix my laptop in the afternoon. What he did is get my motherboard replaced by a new one. So now everything back to normal.

After chatting with the engineer while seeing him dismantle the laptop and assemble it back. He told me that they are in a difficult situation to keep the next working day on site service. All 1800 number actually was routed to Banglo, India. No wonder we hear some funny Indian accent. After verification done, order they will give order to the Malaysian counterpart. So each time customer call, while waiting for the order from India, they can only play the delaying game but just cant tell the customer to wait for another day cause this will go against their next working day policy. So guys now you know what happen, so next time give extra one day to our poor hp engineer to come, have some patient tongue.gif rclxms.gif rclxms.gif

Warranty is very important. I bought my v3101 one and half years ago. Luckily i extend the warranty under HP ONE CARE. It only cost me RM299 for extended 2 years warranty. (total 3 years) You must extend it within 30 days after purchase or else it would be costly to extend. If not mistaken it would cost you RM250 a year.

Recently i my laptop would turn on. So since the warranty is on site next working day warranty, the engineer actually came to my office the third day (not so bad). And i he replace the mother board for me in front of me and take less than a hour to do so. Since the laptop has not much spare part as most of it are integrated in the mother board, it would cost you a bomb if you do not carry a warranty.

Good lucks guy without warranty one...hehe

3 months still can but you have to pay a slightly higher price i guess.
The benefit is all parts of the laptop has 3 years warranty except battery which only carry 1 year warranty. So within 3 years you can any part of your laptop repaired unless it is caused by human negligence such as pouring water on your laptop because when the engineer open up the casing he can detect burn mark and hp may ask you to pay for it. Other than that everything is free and you dun have to bring it to the centre. HP will send engineer to your place. So if you have just purchased your laptop better get extended warranty as our laptop is very fragile.

Should be! For your information whatever you guy install such as hem hem windows vista will not void your warranty as the warranty is for your hardware only. The on site technician rather is employed under outsourcing company but work under HP though. They are quite okie. But mostly what they do is dismantle your laptop and change new part and assemble back. That is it.

If your laptop still within the warranty period, just ring up hp customer care line. This call will divert you to banglo in india, so you will be talking to an Indian engineer. He would ask you a few question, if the problem persist, he will arrange for a technician to go to your house to repair your laptop. Give them two days and they will definitely call you. Call them only after two days if they did not turn out. Even though the warranty should be next working day, they rarely keep this, so wait for another day.

My laptop also the same, it is the board problem. The technician will come and spend one hour on the spot to replace the motherboard. I am still on warranty even though my laptop is already one and half year old. So i will encourage those who had just purchase laptop to go for 3 years extended warranty as laptop unlike pc, when it is down, the only thing they would do is just change the board and you can imagine how much it costs. hmm.gif
