If you are all llooking for xp drivers ur looking in the wrong section. Dont look for your specific model of ur laptop in the compaq site. Instead look for "V3000 cto" under search and u may find all the xp drivers ur looking for.. thats where i got all of mine which is also da newest versions.. over there u will find the latest bios for all v3000 presario laptops too.

"Yes, I can understand your 'angry'. The reasons why many of us want to install XP , it is because a lot of programs still work perfectly in XP environment. By upgrading to Vista, we need to spare time to find / buy new programs again. "

Also grissom0925 i run vista ultimate.. I have not found a single program that cant run on vista.. plus all software makers are complying to vista.. so dont say u have to find software to work on vista.. that is a myth and not a fact... u also actually spend more time and frustration to get laptop to work on xp.. then to find software and drivers thats available for vista biggrin.gif even hardwares that dont support vista, i was still able to have a work around the so called problems...also it isnt even slow I run a 3614au with 2gb ram, and the start up is fast... it took me just 20mins flat to installed vista ultimate XD plus i find it is much more stable than xp.. i say upgrade now.. wink.gif why waiT? the ONLY big problem i see in vista is that if u use networks, u will see a dramatic decrease in transfer speeds over certain networks ... this is because of tcp global parameters for autotuning is enabled.. u will need to disable this and reboot for u to use networks effectively... if any1 is having any problems u can try this command:

goto command prompt
type "netsh interface tcp set global autotuning=disabled"

btw a quick question.. did u guys realise u can change the video shared memory in bios?? what is ur settings i have changed it from 32mb to 128mb and still dont see the difference :S wats ur settings on?? and how weird.. we have a sata hdd.. but in device manager it says ata.. even talked to hp about it.. they say it displays as ata but runs as sata.. does that make sense?? :S

im running kingston and i can assure u.. i have no probs at all biggrin.gif

@joanalooidog ur not runniing paired rams.. meaning it wont be running at dual channel.. .. that could be da reason why wink.gif

@fariq_azad ur running a Geforce go 7150M or so called NVIDIA MCP67M .. so u can either find it at laptop2go.com or from compaq site... looking under "v3000 cto"

@Eiraku its corsair... its slightly more expensive.. kingston however is only 110 per piece which was a month ago.. cheap and value for money.. keep ur original ram.. if ur computer has problem reinstall the original ram then only go for warranty to prevent ur warranty being void....

@tskhang no not all... some comes with free dos versions like mine XD

@anarihan try downloading the "HP Bluetooth integrated module" from compaq website.. that "mite" solve ur problem if ur running xp or lower

@Grimssom u have an NFORCE chipset. so bare inmind that certain peripherals are integrated... try installing ur chipset drivers... that should auto install ur LAN drivers automatically.. if ur using xp try these drivers:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwar...&os=228&lang=en

if ur using vista try this
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwar...3554101&os=2093

@josephtan83 thank u for being so appreciative and also glad u were able to work it out all by urself biggrin.gif... i thought my comments and instructions were concise enuff XD.. i guess some ppl needs to be spoonfed XD

happy hunting.. for 2k notebook i really think u cant go better.. this laptop is great with great built quality XD

PS also take note if ur using a 3614au da latest bios version is f.05..any bios in the v3000 cto series will not work for this particular laptop yet...

@Sony if u read this same page near the top u would find ur answer already.. should read b4 a posting a question that has been answer x1000 b4...

@porkchop da more partitions da better (subjective)... what i normally do is have (this is for 120gb for 160hdd i would use a different partitioon ration) C:\ at 30gb.. this is for system and documents (30gb should be more than sufficient for Vista and other new progs atm) and the rest is for d:\ whichc is for videos media and back up.. downloads are done at c:\ so if it corrupts my os.. i can still format easily.. i usually remove the REcover partition cause i fink its useless and a waste of space as i usually only download the NEWEST drivers upon each format.... but also be aware if ur compaq doesnt come with OS CD that means its in ur recovery drive.. u will need to make a backup b4 deleting the recovery partition
