mean more RAM is more important than CPU speed?
*
For me 2 also important... if RAM too low, it take a lot of time to loading a program somemore a problem like virtual memory low often happen. IF CPU speed slow, even can load program faster but the program will quite laggy. CPU speed does help in loading speed also. Which i had tried when keep my speed at 800mhz and compare with 1.6ghz. And 256mb ram compare 700++mb ram. RAM and cpu speed high is the best icon_rolleyes.gif

QUOTE(dinodegil @ Jul 9 2007, 09:00 PM)
hi...i have one question..i'm already installed Windows Vista Ultimate in my Compaq V3133AU model...need to i installed vista codec??

and VMWARE Support with Vista??

what software can't running with Vista Platform?
*
Hm. as from my research. The window vista got 32bit and 64 bit. Most of the program was in 32bit which mean that vista 32bit support most of the software and application. Even i tried to install old game such like starcraft or red alert 2 also playable. But it didnt got IPX driver which not convinient for me so i had change back to XP. Somemore for nowaday most of the program created also supported by vista. For now, there are too less program that created in 64bit.

Comparison:- 64bit game or application can run faster then 32bit IF the program it self was programmed in 64 bit and your hardware built in 64bit such as AMD 64bit.

Sorry for bad explanation. notworthy.gif

err.. i mean like add in some features. like WVista or Mac panel.. any idea where to get those. 2g ram should b enuff to support these enhancement sw rite..
*
I think there is 1 application called window blind something.. u try google for it. Or use vista transformation icon_idea.gif Or u try upgrade your graphic card forceware , Ge force 6150 forceware support many kind of feature. Eg. Transparency(there's also 1 simple application can do this), u try to experience it, there does a lot of function.

QUOTE(hoongji @ Jul 29 2007, 01:02 AM)
ok, let me relate my story.

i bought the v3005au in SG. the spec is AMD Turion64X2 with GeForce6150. had exactly all the problems as above. laptop freezes when playing games, watching movies or doing heavy tasks. cannot be turned on after that, but the LED lights are still on. sent for repair, and they changed a new mobo. but the symptoms came back again after a month. i have restarted for 3 hours and finally got it booted up prior to posting this msg. if i have no reply after this, means my laptop is dead for good again.

my room mate bought the exact same model on the same day. he too had a dead mobo and just got it back from repair. on the first day itself, the symptoms came back.

the wireless issue is also related to this mobo issue. once the above symptoms appear, the WIFI will not work properly too. sometimes can use, sometimes down.

this is an obvious design flaw by HP/Compaq where the processor is let to heat up till it burns up the mobo. can we bring up this case to the consumer tribunal for a new model replacement? i ain't gonna send back for repairs as i've waited 2 months during my first time. after searching the internet, there was a guy who had 3 dead mobos and sent for repairs 3 times.

edit: can the TS or Mods pls update this issue to the first page so as to let others with the same issues to find it easily. tq

FYI , mine v3250au also does got freeze problem. It freeze frequently when running game. Sometime it freeze till the screen auto refresh. Somehow it still can be open, hm.. For the wifi, it does got problem. Sometime wireless was not able to connect it even i keep restarting it. Then i try set wireless>configure>and set something then press ok. And it will connect again. Or i try to turn off and turn on back the wireless button. But the wifi easily lost packet. Make the game lag and disconnect.

U wan to try test your laptop? Juz try to convert a song or movie tongue.gif

Somehow i felt there is 1 thing if compare with intel. Im using thumb drive copy file to my friend lappy, and i felt the time consuming more longer then intel, does it related to bus speed, clockspeed or cache?

compaq presario amd model is not that bad....for driver u need to install according to order then your notebook will work fine....for blue screen problem, most is cause by improper way to install ram or uncompatible ram....is not amd fault
*
u know , i should consider 1 more week then only buy this lappy, kinda regret now coz playing game it will freeze for unknown reason. then after i bought i only find out cache does effect a lot when converting. And the left hand part i felt hot, uncomfortable sad.gif

Huh? wao.. that kind of convert i really duno.. i mean is convert .mpg to .avi icon_rolleyes.gif Reason to convert? To make it able to be played on some specified devices. Eg. Most of the people convert a movie to .rmvb in order to save more space.

my friend bought a V3501 and wished to install windows XP but after the windows XP setup (Press Enter to setup XP), then saying that no hard disk was found and asked for physical connection.

Called to HP helpdesk and they claimed that only Vista OS is allowed and XP is not allowed.

How it can be like that or I missed something?

I have made partition on the HDD and formatted... only when insert the XP CD and going to setup, then saying no hdd......
*
I think maybe is Window XP cd didnt contain sata driver(hard disk) so the hard disk was not detected.

hi......... i'm going to buy a compaq laptop. i hvnt decide whether i should pick AMD or intel as the processor. can anyone tell me the effects of both processor, since u all experience it now. i heard that AMD is quite stable now, n surely the price also quite low compare to intel chip. if u guys AMD is ok, most probably i will go for it. if not i wil jus hv to pay extra money to get the intel chip.
*
If got more money go for Intel. Because for now, intel does got 4mb cache! drool.gif which AMD.. er.. Somemore intel does got x3100 somemore they said it does better performance then Ge force 6150

Im using v3250au. I was trying on a game called transformer, wow.. it extreamly lag with default setting. I off all the effect and then set the shared memory into 64mb. After that it perform better(playable) somehow if set the screen resolution to 800x640 which will make the game more playable but the graphic really worse.. sad.gif even the intel c2d core 1.6ghz with intel graphic does better performance. Somehow does the shared memory will effect the performance(in terms of speed)
