In term of speed, the mbp C2D 2.16 is much faster than the 17inch 1.67ghz rite?

The seller told me that this powerbook did not have any scratch and he has been using it for 1 year plus.

Hey there..

I think you should opt for the MBP C2D... like noel said, you'll get a newer processor, more ram, bigger harddisk...

From the specs u listed, it seems that the one he's selling is the older version of the powerbook G4... The screen may be bigger, but the MBP can achieve the same resolution... So what you see on-screen would be the same thing...same amount of pixels in a smaller amount of space=sharper screen rclxms.gif The unit being sold is also more than 1year, so if he didn't get ACPP it's too late for you to extend the warranty... And even though there's no scratches, there's bound to be internal wear and tear, especially with the optical drive & hard disk....

The other advantages:
+ new machine, new warranty
+ capable to run windows (u'll never know when u need windows... I still use windows for certain apps, e.g. Nokia PC Suite)
+ Newer software may be optimized to run on Intel Processors..
+ lighter & more portable
+ Dual layer DVD burning..
+ Built in iSight

Things you'll not get:
- 56K modem (who needs one anyway)
- bigger screen (remember, it's just physically big.. resolution is the same)

If you can afford it, the extra RM1799 would be worth it... Consider it as an investment... You'll be more satisfied... Not to forget, the experience of unpacking a new mac out of the box itself is something priceless... smile.gif

i would recommend the 17" only if you plan to run some apps that still runs only on power pc.

warranty?
Me thinks 6K is a bit on the high side... even for a 17". If it was 4K, I'd get this. drool.gif
