Hi to all sifu here. I officially joined OCBC 360 saving account club yesterday.
Just a quick question here. Let say I reload RM500 into Boost wallet with ocbc debit card, then withdraw back into ocbc account. Will I entire for both of the deposit and spend interest one goal?
*
There will be 2% service charge for the withdrawal right?

By right should achieve cause boost's withdrawal is more or less a form of bank transfer (from ambank)

Avoid doing it near end of month. For the deposit part, can always do transfer in from another bank or part of salary amount will do.

2 of my transactions were actually done in July but bank statement transaction date and value date both shown in August. So I assume these 2 will be part of August's calculation which customer service previously confirmed that interest calculation will be done based on bank statement transaction date. Then now, they say 1 of my July transaction is posted in July while the other July's transaction posted in August. Now, this is ridiculous because on my bank statement, it shows both transactions captured in August. Where OCBC get this info-on 1 is in July while the other in August ?? Customer certainly don't see this in their bank statement. In fact, I purposely monitored my spending (base on the bank statement) to ensure that I meet this criteria. So OCBC is saying that both months I am not entitled which is certainly wrong as now with the 2 transactions splitted in different months, I fail the criteria. This is ridiculous because you either base on the actual spending date or base on the bank statement date (which both transaction date and value date show as August spending). So I should get the interest for 1 month either July or August

Ok, means you do your transaction at the end of july, one posted in july one posted in august that cause your not receiving full 1.3%x 3 for the month of July right?

You are not right that saying bank not capture properly. Its the merchant site, and merchant not doing wrong also.

E.g You swipe your card on 31 August, merchant only claim (settle) the bill on 5 September. Means that bank will be able to post your transaction on 5th September, bank can have an additional note : transaction date.

But base on my test on OCBC bank. OCBC has 2 type, Value date and transaction date.

When I deposit money in bank at 10pm on 10 August, the "value date" posted is 11 August, which means I lose 1 day interest.

On the other hand, I swipe my ocbc debit card on 6 September, the "value and transaction transaction" show in my statement on 10 September. Which means I earn 6-9 September Interests, as my money only deducted on 10 September.

Both cases, should i go for bnm for giving me 1 day less interest? Or complain that my money not deducted on the same day i swipe my debit card? This is how this bank work and theres no wrong o right on the bank.

In your case, If you only swipe your card on 30 July for RM500 or you do 3 transaction on 30 July on late of the day, e.g 9pm 10pm, most probably you will not get the 1.3% interest for the particular criteria.

Just live with it la....dont make people life and your own life hard. Try to be smart consumer is good. But not overly smart customer who dig bone in egg. This make life difficult.

You really are too free trying to pick a fight especially since you are not involved in this at all. You are the one trying to make life difficult for people and dig bone in egg. You must have nothing better to do--better to use your time wisely instead of trying to inflame and egg people on. Both my transactions and value date were shown in August. And the last transaction was made in the afternoon and not night. Because of that I lost my July (1 month's interest) which I accepted and because since my transactions were shown in August, I ensured that I spent enough in August to qualify. Bank cannot show that this is the date which they capture the transaction and after that use another date (which is not shown to customer) to calculate interest and thus say you are not qualified. As a result I did not get July and August interest and not 1 day interest as per your assumption.

You really should stop your nonsense and self-righteousness.

I am talking about my own real case, not making any assumption. Well, no point arguing. Go ahead with what you think its your right as customer. Good luck with that.

I did not lose 1 day interest as per yours or anything similar to yours, so stop using your case to compare to mine and being rude. Finally, please heed your own advise on stop arguing. You were the one that initiated it and kept continuing with your several posts. Hopefully this will be the last post I hear from you.

*
1) Both transactions were made in July
2) Both merchants posted the transactions in July (from conversation with OCBC)
3) OCBC bank statement (both transaction date and value date) shows the 2 transactions in August
4) OCBC when calculating the 1.3% interest decided to take 1 transaction in July and the other transaction in August (as a result, did not get July's 1.3% interest nor August's 1.3% interest)
5) Initially OCBC hotline said that calculation of 1.3% interest was based on transaction date as shown in OCBC bank statement but later when confronted, changed story to say calculation of interest as per #4

After this, would appreciate no more conversation /arguements /attacks/ sarcasm/questions from anyone as they are not involved in this matter.

What you guys think about this? It is easy to get up to 4% interest, for 6%, I am not sure what are the insurance and investment offered by SC.

For me, hmm.gif
Con:
- Deposit RM3k per month (tough)
- Invest/Insurance payment (tough)
- Campaign 6% interest end 31 December 2019 (may be renewed).

Pro:
- Spend RM1k by credit card
- Total 6% interest only if meet all 3 conditions
- Debit card withdraw waived at ALL atm in malaysia.

For me, up to 4% is still easy on SC, so I would try to compare them.

Deposit 3k is just instant transfer between two banks, which is free and easy? Correct me if I am wrong.

If you r the kind that do investment into mutual fund every months (>RM1000) then you can check with SC for what investment is eligible to the additional 2%. Most people wont go beyond that investment thg la... but its still up to u. laugh.gif
