Will be on the lookout for this. Already emptied the space where the Samsung upscaling DVD player used to be. Cant look at DVD the same way anymore.

it's possible.

just compare the ps3 with another sony product...
example their cameras.
their cameras only use memory sticks for storage.
ps3 not only accepts memory sticks,but sd,compact flash,etc.(60gb model,im referring to)

it's possible sony might release a drive that will enable HD DVD playback

That would only happen when HD-DVD wins the war. I'm sure enough to put money on it not happening otherwise.

apparently, the combo player might do not see the day light. With the player currently do not comply with the HD DVD standard requirements such as running full HDi, legal actions can be taken against LG for using the HD DVD logo. The DVD forum is consulting with LG to make sure that the combo, at launch will be 100% HD DVD compliant !

Hmmmm... Anyone tried plugging Microsoft's XBox 360 HD-DVD drive into a PS3 yet?

Although I'm hoping this one will have a backdoor to make it region free oso biggrin.gif

It should not work.Even on the XBox 360 you need to update its firmware with the disc that comes with the HD-DVD drive in order to use it.For standard DVD playback it should be following the region supported by the XBox 360.
