The only way to root Redmi Note 3 SD is to unlock the bootloader either by officially or unofficially. Then can flash TWRP and SuperSU since not many custom ROM with SuperSU yet for locked bootloader. For MTK version, since its in the market for quite sometimes, some of the ROM existed can be installed with locked bootloader with SuperSU included.
Developer ROM also have root enabled, but not many people kinda like Developer ROM. This post has been edited by AMDAthlon: Apr 16 2016, 11:03 PM |

QUOTE(vanpersie91 @ Apr 17 2016, 06:51 AM) Nak yang one click senang.Flash Global Developer ROM via Updater App. Once flashed, you can root it using the Security App. But then dev rom MAYBE got some bugs as it updated weekly i think. |

But after sometimes if another person calls me, the same thing will happened again. Is it because of mobile data? Previous phone never have this problems though |

QUOTE(sagethesausage @ Apr 18 2016, 10:18 AM) After apply unlock from xiaomi, you got to wait untill you get sms approval front them(approx 10-14 days after apply). Once your bootloader is unlocked, then u can flash twrp and supersu. It is quite troublesome though, but if you can wait then better. If you want unlock unofficially you can find it on the net, but wrong step could brick the phone which I never recomended it. |

QUOTE(hirota @ Apr 21 2016, 01:26 PM) bro, still using miui? unclock BL? One mi account per one device per 30 days. Since you already applied for mtk, create another account with diff number for your sd rn3. Or you wait another 30 days before you can apply for another permission.I try to unlock my SD rn3 but failed... used the same mi account that I unlocked mtk rn3 |

QUOTE(hirota @ Apr 21 2016, 02:02 PM) Already applied for permission? Make sure to activate/bind your rn3 sd with the account. What is the error you received when unlocking? There are also reports at xiaomi forum that even with xiaomi's permission they still cannot unlock. Maybe xiaomi side problems. As for me, I'm still waiting for the xiaomi's approval. But i have already unlocked it unofficially (without xiaomi approval). |

QUOTE(activexxx @ Apr 24 2016, 01:07 PM) Check on xda forum or miui forum. Though I don't recommend it because one wrong step and you could hard brick the phone. QUOTE(KittehDispenser @ Apr 24 2016, 01:41 PM) Alright I think warranty is unaffected. Because I screwed up last time during the unlocking process and Xiaomi still honour my warrantyBy the way, I got the bootloader code last few day. If I unlocked it, it will not effect my warranty right ? 😅😅 QUOTE(kamikraze @ Apr 24 2016, 02:52 PM) Updating should be no problem because you can flash the OTA/the rom via TWRP anyway. QUOTE(alucard89 @ Apr 24 2016, 03:40 PM) How long did take to get the unlock code after you apply for it? Not really. Last time my Redmi 3 took 11 days to get approved and I'm not even active at the forum. Do you have to be forum member with lots of post? |

QUOTE(GameSky @ Apr 29 2016, 12:17 PM) asking bout those unlock bl I've hard bricked before due to unofficial way and lucky xiaomi honor my warranty unofficial way - later update newer miui got problem? read there will chance of hard/soft brick, unless you do the file replace Ya.. Must be very very very cautious. One wrong step you could hard brick the device. official way - no problem rite? No problem at all. Before this I unlocked using unofficial method. After I got the unlock approval from xiaomi, I can flash anything I want without worrying. Peace of mind. For me, unofficial method is just a temporary method to root/flash untill you got approval from xiaomi. This post has been edited by AMDAthlon: Apr 29 2016, 12:31 PM |

QUOTE(GameSky @ Apr 29 2016, 03:57 PM) I'm using miui backup n restore to transfer my existing app from mi3 to redmi note 3, so far it function like titaniumbackup. As long you unlocked it officially, you can flash it anyhow you like(of course make sure it is twrp compatible adaway is total reason why I wanted to root, lol.. so, after root, then if I wanted to flash rom like miui eu, then it's safe then? well official way unlock. hahaha..ikr At least if you fail/bricked, you can still flash stock rom via fastboot(if unlock officially). QUOTE(soulz69 @ Apr 29 2016, 05:33 PM) i can't unlock my bootloader using official unlocker. i got the sms for my request has been approve. it can't recognize my device. lol. still using v7.1.8.0 need to update to beta rom or any other way? QUOTE(Radec @ Apr 29 2016, 07:44 PM) What i did was...First you have to flash to China Stable ROM(fastboot version) via MiFlash. Then download China Developer ROM(recovery version),copy it to your internal sd and use Updater to flash the China Developer ROM from China Stable ROM. Then go to fastboot and use the unlock tool. Should work 100%.Although xiaomi said can unlock using Global Stable ROM, but it never worked for most people QUOTE(GameSky @ Apr 29 2016, 08:58 PM) from what i read..if u via official way.. no need, if unofficial way..have to do few job.. Yes. Those that unlock bootloader using unoffical way, please please becareful not to flash anything without a good read. Otherwise you can hard brick the phone.might need others to clarify this If you unlock officially, unlocked bootloader will stay. For the root and recovery might be lost. But then, you can still reflash it again |

QUOTE(GameSky @ Apr 30 2016, 07:42 AM) so for rooting No need. Once you successfully unlocked it officially, there's no need to delete mbn files nor need to flash modified boot.img anymore. Bootloader will remain unlocked. Just make sure the ROM is twrp compatible.- flash china dev rom - unlock via official way - flash global rom (need to do any file replace to prevent lock bootloader?) - flash twrp, supersu the part of global rom, do i need to delete .mbn file? or just straight forward flash the global rom and it will remain unlocked bootloader? |

QUOTE(GameSky @ Apr 30 2016, 08:43 AM) alright..thanks..was confused on the .mbn file lol.. since owning a mi3 last time doesnt have these bootloader thing. I think to relock bootloader can use fastboot method. But I'm not so sure about that because no one make it before. But in my knowledge, it can be relock using few fastboot command. also another q, to relock just fastboot or? But for what? Warranty? I think unlocking does not void the warranty. Maybe I'm wrong but Xiaomi never states that unlocking will void warranty. It just said that it will harm you bla bla or increase risks yada yada. |
