Watch out for this kind of case though.. I bought one before and it degrade my signal greatly (wifi, mobile network and gps affected)

The only way to root Redmi Note 3 SD is to unlock the bootloader either by officially or unofficially. Then can flash TWRP and SuperSU since not many custom ROM with SuperSU yet for locked bootloader. For MTK version,since its in the market for quite sometimes, some of the ROM existed can be installed with locked bootloader with SuperSU included.
Developer ROM also have root enabled, but not many people kinda like Developer ROM.

Flash Global Developer ROM via Updater App. Once flashed, you can root it using the Security App.
But then dev rom MAYBE got some bugs as it updated weekly i think.

Did you guys face calls dropping on 7.1.8.0?
I dont know why it happend to me
When people call me, the first call will always drop after 5 seconds.When they recall, no more call dropping.
But after sometimes if another person calls me, the same thing will happened again.
Is it because of mobile data?
Previous phone never have this problems though

After apply unlock from xiaomi, you got to wait untill you get sms approval front them(approx 10-14 days after apply).
Once your bootloader is unlocked, then u can flash twrp and supersu.

It is quite troublesome though, but if you can wait then better.
If you want unlock unofficially you can find it on the net, but wrong step could brick the phone which I never recomended it.

I also bought the nilkin pro h+. Tempered glass which includes cover for the camera too..

One mi account per one device per 30 days. Since you already applied for mtk, create another account with diff number for your sd rn3. Or you wait another 30 days before you can apply for another permission.

Already applied for permission? Make sure to activate/bind your rn3 sd with the account.
What is the error you received when unlocking? There are also reports at xiaomi forum that even with xiaomi's permission they still cannot unlock. Maybe xiaomi side problems.

As for me, I'm still waiting for the xiaomi's approval. But i have already unlocked it unofficially (without xiaomi approval).

I don't have this problems though. Ate you using the original charger and cable?

I'm sure there are others that are rooted here but not many. As for me, I have already unlocked the bootloader and rooted the phones using unofficial way while waiting for the unlock approval from xiaomi.

Check on xda forum or miui forum. Though I don't recommend it because one wrong step and you could hard brick the phone.

I think warranty is unaffected. Because I screwed up last time during the unlocking process and Xiaomi still honour my warranty

Updating should be no problem because you can flash the OTA/the rom via TWRP anyway.

Not really. Last time my Redmi 3 took 11 days to get approved and I'm not even active at the forum.

I've hard bricked before due to unofficial way and lucky xiaomi honor my warranty

If you can wait much better. Most people that need root is due to backup from titanium backup/AdAway.

As long you unlocked it officially,you can flash it anyhow you like(of course make sure it is twrp compatible )
At least if you fail/bricked, you can still flash stock rom via fastboot(if unlock officially).

What i did was...First you have to flash to China Stable ROM(fastboot version) via MiFlash. Then download China Developer ROM(recovery version),copy it to your internal sd and use Updater to flash the China Developer ROM from China Stable ROM. Then go to fastboot and use the unlock tool. Should work 100%.

Although xiaomi said can unlock using Global Stable ROM, but it never worked for most people

Yes. Those that unlock bootloader using unoffical way, please please becareful not to flash anything without a good read. Otherwise you can hard brick the phone.
If you unlock officially, unlocked bootloader will stay. For the root and recovery might be lost. But then,you can still reflash it again

No need. Once you successfully unlocked it officially, there's no need to delete mbn files nor need to flash modified boot.img anymore. Bootloader will remain unlocked. Just make sure the ROM is twrp compatible.

I think to relock bootloader can use fastboot method. But I'm not so sure about that because no one make it before. But in my knowledge, it can be relock using few fastboot command.
But for what? Warranty? I think unlocking does not void the warranty. Maybe I'm wrong but Xiaomi never states that unlocking will void warranty. It just said that it will harm you bla bla or increase risks yada yada.
