Who says you can't support more than one club? Most true football fans have 2nd or 3rd club (mostly lower division clubs) they support alongside top tier clubs.

Leicester remind me of 2000-2003 chelsea, gudjohnsen + hasselbank, zola . Owaii, same manager. Small team big ambition. Leicester bring back that feelings.

But nope, am chelsea supporter. Wait next year, chelsea will be there.

Claudio Ranieri
Manager
Claudio Ranieri arrived at King Power Stadium in July 2015 with a fine reputation and an impressive record at the helm of some of Europe’s biggest and most famous teams.

Born on October 20, 1951 in the Italian capital Rome, Ranieri’s football career began in that very city with the signing of his first professional contract at Roma in 1973.

During his playing days Ranieri had a reputation as a rugged full-back with a strong understanding for the game and after two campaigns with Roma he made the switch to Cantanzaro in 1974, where he would stay for the majority of his playing career.

After two promotions in six years with the side from the south of Italy, Ranieri would go on to help both Catania and Palermo achieve further promotions before his playing career ended in 1986.

With a managerial career that has seen him take charge of 14 teams across a period of 29 years and five different countries, there can be few with as much experience as Ranieri.

Popular with players and media alike, the Italian has built a solid reputation as a manager with a capacity to nurture youth, motivate his players and manage squads full of big names.

After spells with two smaller sides in the form of Lamenti and Campania, Ranieri’s big break arrived in 1987 with Cagliari. It was there that he almost immediately turned the side around and guided them to promotions from Serie C1 to the heights of Serie A.

Italian giants Napoli soon came calling for the services of the talented young manager as they sought to recover from the loss of iconic Argentine Diego Maradona, with whom they had won the league in 1990.

More challenges were soon around the corner for Ranieri, who joined Fiorentina in 1993, but he rose to them straight away – guiding the Viola to a dominant Serie B title in his first season.

They claimed the Coppa Italia in 1996 with a win over Atalanta and the Supercoppa Italia in the same year by beating a star-studded AC Milan side in the San Siro.

He ended his stay in Italy for a move to Spain with Valencia. Handed a tough task at the Mestalla given the domestic dominance of Real Madrid and Barcelona, Ranieri fared well and not only guided a revitalised Valencia to Champions League qualification but also to the Copa de Rey in 1999.

In 1999 he was then recruited by Atletico, but difficult financial constraints for the Club, including administration, made things even more testing on the pitch, meaning Ranieri stayed in the Spanish capital for just one season before making a fresh start in the Premier League with Chelsea in September 2000.

It was at Stamford Bridge that Ranieri would win the admiration of many supporters in England, not just for the impressive job he did rebuilding the side, but for his honesty, his passion and the loyalty he inspired in his players.

He secured a top six finish in his first two seasons as well as reaching the FA Cup Final in 2001/02, when they were beaten by Arsenal.

Former England skipper John Terry and current Leicester City star Robert Huth were brought further into the fray the following season as Ranieri shrugged off a summer of few arrivals to seal an all important top four finish with a final day victory over Liverpool.

That secured Champions League football for the side, and with the purchase of the club by Roman Abramovic in 2003, Ranieri was able to bring in a host of talent from across Europe to build the base of a team that would go on to achieve great things over the next decade.

Despite a second placed finish in the league and a run to the Champions League Semi-Finals, Ranieri was replaced at the Chelsea helm by Jose Mourinho in 2004 – a decision that paved the way for his return to Valencia for a second spell in June of that year.

That period started well for the Italian, who picked up more silverware early in his reign with a Super Cup victory over Porto. In 2007 Serie A came calling for Ranieri once again and this time it was relegation threatened Parma who were in need of his services.

The job he performed there will be well remembered by Parma supporters, who watched happily as he lifted them from the relegation battle to the safety of 12th place thanks to some huge results against teams above them in the table.

Next on the agenda for Ranieri were Juventus in 2007, who turned to him on the back of their return to Serie A from Serie B, and he didn’t disappoint – guiding them to a highly impressive third place in the league. It was a spell that ended in 2009 after less than two seasons, but one that had helped to re-establish The Old Lady as a force in Italian football again.

Soon afterwards he would take over at his boyhood club Roma on a two-year deal. It was a first season that very nearly had a fairy-tale ending for Ranieri, whose side charged to the top of Serie A with a 23-game unbeaten run.

However Internazionale snatched both the league and the Coppa Italia from within their grasp in a dramatic end to the season.

Following the 2010/11 campaign, it was Internazionale where Ranieri would next turn up, but that stay was short-lived as in May 2012 he made the switch to the French Ligue 2 with AS Monaco.

In his first season in the principality he guided the team to the Ligue 2 title and then an impressive charge up to second place in Ligue 1 the following campaign.

High profile signings such as Radamel Falcao and James Rodriguez saw them only narrowly miss out on the title.

He left Monaco in the summer of 2014 when he took up an international role managing the Greece national side. This was a position he occupied until November of last year, before joining the Foxes in July 2015.

Bookies Vow Never Again as 5,000-1 Leicester Closes on Title laugh.gif

William Hill Plc and other bookmakers gave better chances to finding Elvis Presley alive (2,000-1) or discovering the Loch Ness monster (500-1) than to Leicester City F.C. winning this season’s English Premier League soccer title. It won’t make that mistake again.
On Sunday, the Foxes of Leicester City could capture their first Premier League title in their 132-year history -- with early bets at 5,000-1 odds.
If the team’s core of unknown and journeyman footballers defeat 20-time champion Manchester United, William Hill would lose 2 million pounds ($2.9 million), according to company spokesman Rupert Adams. The bookmaker took 58 pounds in bets on Thai-owned Leicester City at odds of 5,000-1, and would have to pay out 750,000 pounds to gamblers who bet later in the season when the odds dropped to 1,500-1.
“We are going to lose 2 million quid when Leicester win it,” Adams said in a phone interview. “As it stands, the biggest price for anyone next year is 1,000-1.”

William Hill represents about 20 percent of the U.K. betting market, meaning a Foxes victory will cost bookmakers across the country about 10 million pounds, Adams said. And even celebrities could be getting a payout. Actor Tom Hanks this week said he bet 100 pounds on the Foxes, and now stands to win 500,000 pounds if Leicester City wins. brows.gif
But the Leicester City Miracle isn’t all bad news for bookies. Until Christmas, the Foxes upset the odds week after week by beating teams they were supposed to beat -- and ruining several so-called accumulator, or parlay, bets in which gamblers select a slate of results over a weekend of games.
The market for preseason betting will also grow by as much as five times next season, said Alex Donohue, a spokesman for Ladbrokes Plc, which with William Hill operates half of the U.K.’s licensed betting shops. His company faces a similar 3 million-pound payout to bettors. Each company took about 1 million pounds worth of bets on the Premier League Title winners.
“Next year it will be colossal,” Donohue said. “Imagine if you support Bournemouth or Norwich or Crystal Palace, you’ll think if Leicester can do it why can’t we. I’m sure there will be incredible volume from next season.”
In Ladbrokes’ 130-year existence, the company has never paid out bets on odds of 5,000-1. The company accepted 47 bets at 5,000-1, and 23 of them are still live, with others deciding to cash out.
For William Hill, the bookmaker’s previous biggest payout was 125,000 pounds in 2013 -- to a man who bet 13 years earlier that his grandson would play for the Wales national soccer team. That player, Harry Wilson, was just 16 when he went on as a substitute in a game against Belgium.
“This is a genuine black-swan event,” Donohue said. “If you simulated the Premier League 5,000 times, Leicester should win it once. We’re not going to be around for another 5,000 Premier Leagues to see if that’s the case, but we stand by the fact that our odds-compilation process was correct and robust.”
The club is owned by Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, the Thai founder of the King Power duty free company.

5000/1 odds of winning the league at the beginning of the season.

Meaning, if you had placed just £1 you would've won £5,000

A £10 bet made you £50,000
A £100 bet made you £500,000

Arsenal trigger Jamie Vardy’s release clause in move for Leicester striker

user posted image

Arsenal have triggered the release clause in Jamie Vardy’s contract and are ready to prise the England international from Leicester City in a deal worth around £20m. Arsène Wenger’s pursuit of Vardy represents a significant shift from Arsenal’s transfer policy in the past but the striker’s availability for a relatively modest fee, and the alternative option that he provides in attack with his searing pace, has fuelled the manager’s interest.

Talks have taken place and it would now appear that the ball is in Vardy’s court as to whether he wants to leave the Premier League champions and move to Arsenal at a critical juncture in his career. He turns 30 in January, he has been playing the best football of his life, and it is almost a case of now or never in terms of whether he leaves Leicester for one of the Premier League heavyweights.

Wenger was watching at Wembley on Thursday night, when Vardy started in England’s 1-0 victory over Portugal, and the timing of Arsenal’s attempt to sign the player, just before Roy Hodgson’s squad leave for the European Championship finals, means that the transfer is unlikely to be allowed to rumble on.

Manchester United have also explored the possibility of signing Vardy but their No1 target up front remains Zlatan Ibrahimovic, leaving the door open for Arsenal to make their move. With Danny Welbeck sidelined with a long-term injury and Olivier Giroud a totally different type of striker, Vardy has the chance to be Arsenal’s first-choice forward when the new season starts if he makes the switch. He would also pick up a healthy increase on the £70,000 a week wages he earns at Leicester.

Leicester have not give up hope of holding on to Vardy. He signed an improved three-and-a-half-year contract in February – albeit with that release clause – and is seen as such a key part of their plans. Vardy has a close relationship with Leicester’s Thai owners as well as Claudio Ranieri, the manager, and there is a collective desire on their part to keep the title-winning team together for one more season at least.

It is possible that Leicester will now offer Vardy another new contract to try to persuade him to remain at the King Power Stadium and see out his career there. He scored 24 Premier League goals in a season when Leicester defied 5,000-1 odds to be crowned Premier League champions and it would be a huge blow for the club to lose him. Vardy, however, could be forgiven for thinking that last season was as good as it will ever get at Leicester, even if there is the promise of Champions League football to come when the new campaign gets underway in August.

It is an almost unique position that Vardy finds himself in as he weighs up the pros and cons of what to do, given that he spent nine years playing non-league football and only broke into the professional game in 2012, when he joined Leicester from Fleetwood for £1m. He has since gone on to win seven England caps and score three times for his country.

I bought it somewhere in KL

Coincidently I oso have Switzerland jersey but no torn like that

that one is player grade jersey (worth like RM50+), mine is cheapo replica (RM25)

I dun bother buying expensive one, cheapo has a leisurewear feel, can wear anytime laugh.gif

as for Mahrez, might be going to Arsenal staying, join Vardy rclxm9.gif

he doesn't seem to be bothered with the transfer speculation

I don't think Leicester should fire Ranieri. It's terribly ungrateful of them to treat the manager who brought them the EPL the previous season in such a manner. The players should take responsibility and it is just not right to sack Ranieri at this point of the season. I won't be surprised if Leicester gets relegated even after Ranieri's departure. The owner of Leicester is following the atrocious precedent of modern owners wanting positive immediate results by ditching good managers & hiring another when results go downhill. shakehead.gif

Firstly, I don't think it's good to relate the helicopter crash with karma for the sacking, even if the owner is to be blamed. The owner seemed like a decent guy.

Regarding football coaches getting sacked, yup, it's a modern trend to sack coaches even though half the season hasn't passed yet. Honestly, coaches should be given more time to work out solutions.

P.S. I can't believe someone actually replied to my comment from a year ago. blink.gif
