@vassalle

better to include what kind of fan using on the hsf if it is not come with a stock fan wink.gif coz the results may vary from a low speed to high speed fan

@frank_fusion

ur idle and load temp is freaking high.. check whether u apply thermal paste and the heatsink probably not.

Actually what i'm trying to achieve is to find a range of 'acceptable' temperature for c2d processors under TAT or coretemp. They have been alot of confusion, at least for me, due to the two different reported temperature.

For me, the idle & load for my e6300 was 53c and 65c respectively with airconditioned room. This was @ stock settings, the first 2 hours for my system.

before i post screenshot, what software can be used to monitor Vcore?

Try to use Everest, Speedfan. buthen u can just specify ur vcore according to ur bios vcore setting. wink.gif

Guys I found some interesting explanation about TAT and Bios readings.
Read more about it HERE

From my understanding of the article:
1) to really test ure overclocked processor - run the TAT load test
2) the thermal spec by intel should be used in reference to the temps reported by bios or the TM2 sensor (for e6300 its 61.4c)
3) For TAT or coretemp temps, ure ultimate max would be 85c. 75c is hot, 80c is overtemp where TAT reaches red-line and throttling begins.
*
if just really test the proc ONLY, TAT is ok. buthen daily usage won't be able to reach the temp by TAT test. so TAT just can see how high ur temp can go till.

bios/cpu temp is measured by the mobo's sensor and this sensor measures the temp on the cover of the CPU. means the IHS of the cpu (61.4c).

core temp is the temp measured by the cpu's diode which inside the chip itself. so there won't be any difference if u are changing different mobo. the core temp still gives u the same reading with different mobos. BUT the bios/cpu temp is vary among different mobos. why? i already explained that the bios/cpu temp is measured by the mobo's sensor wink.gif and becoz of that it is ok when u seeing ur CORE temp is higher than 61.4c this value. as this value is used for the max case temp (cover/IHS).

Just some of my understandings. correct me if i was wrong wink.gif

Hmm , I think all ES have a higher temp reading when using TAT, I tested my e6600 ES @ stock w/ Ninja the temperature is 65 idle 75 load laugh.gif (asus probe on the other hand show 42 idle / 53 load

BTW my default vcore is 1.325 , isnt it suppose to be 1.25? confused  rclxub.gif

the default vcore is 1.325 wink.gif
