don't waste your time. I've tried that and after a few emails providing all information requested they say there is nothing they can do. ask you to go make police report instead tongue.gif

Really no point in blocking the numbers... from what I received almost on a daily basis (sometimes twice in a day), it NEVER comes from a repeat number... they just use the number once... as a side note, I'm still trying to figure out what this spam is for:

Since most of the telco got unlimited call, why don't we gang up together and call them non-stop. Bombard them non-stop.

those spammers actually signed up with the unlimited sms plan with any telco, can be maxis, digi or celcom.

then they will use an app to blast the spam sms to thousands of phone numbers.

when telco noticed that this spammer already exceeding the daily limit for the'unlimited sms', telco will block the spammers numbers. that is why we will never get the spam sms from the same numbers.

the spammers will register a new number then..

how to control this?? I think telco already do their best to block these spammers immediately when they detected the high volume of sms sent out to people like us..

by often,, these 3rd party buy out from local telco's, other superstore (tesco, aeon, etc). In db has more than 100k++ people numbers which they will blast out the SMS using GSM. by spending rm0.003 per sms or maybe more abit.

The most is Telco C because they can be partners with other SMS companies (unlimited) unlike Telco M & Telco D only max can be 2 partners.
So those companies tied under Telco C will blast coz there no filtration as per current. Not till they emphasize or control CMP or CIBS. As for now, is not controlled unlike those time when PCM was enforced in Celcom and managed by CMP.

As for telco M is more strict enforcement because they have BMG now in place since the last time MPG was overwhelming. During MPG time, esms was not as strong because all running into 5 same routes under 2 platforms and was managed by a 3rd party sms company approved under Telco M as their partner.
When BMG comes into place, the 3rd party company contract was not been renewed. Esms was being implemented & improvise to 1 master primary platform that still using like previous routes but tighten security.

Sorry to bring up old topic.

The SMS gateway filtration is filtering SMS from 3 series (3xxxx) and 6 series (6xxxx) and any usual 5 digit number.

As for those that has been reported it seems to be from a normal line blasting so is very unlikely those are passing through PCM or BMG at all.

Technically no.

If SMS were to blast using non-compliant number (meaning not 3xxxx and not 6xxxx), this means that the message has never went into PCM / BMG. Hence is a violation of usage under MCMC (if memory serves me right). Any sms went through PCM / BMG will be regulated.

Tips : Do note that SMS from 3XXXX and 6XXXX you can opt to OUT (opt not to receive any SMSes).

You may report this to MCMC / find out which telco is the number is from and report to the telco as spammer.

I find Truecaller to be highly dubious software. Wants to take over your phone's dialler and messaging. Feels like spam or malware itself.

It take over Dialler and sms most likely for easier on blocking sms and call, many phone customisation and android limit permission/not user friendly to allow sms or phone permissions. Which also allow it to become top app to identify 99% of the spam sms and call.

then to serve you ads if you not subscribe to premium adfree subsription.

And still cannot find any other app that beat the sms and phone spam block, and the identification of unknown new phone number.

My phone felt dirty just having the app installed. Took me less than a month to get rid of it. Now if I want to know an unknown number, I just Google it, that's all. If I don't like a number, I just block it.

For my Android, there's a setting in the stock Message app, which is to filter the keywords.

Then now they are spamming via Whatsapp.
Kept reporting spam numbers and I don't think Whatsapp will do any actions against these numbers.

I just copy these numbers and register them on those spamming website... Let spammer vs spammer... Sooner or later, these spam numbers will get charged by those website spammer... In the end, they will terminate the number and create another account and spam us again... So, we repeat the cycle...

Any updates for this tho? Been getting a lot of spam casino SMS's that looks like they are from Chinese mainland casino companies.. Must have been one that's offshore..

I don't see the point of blocking since they can just make new number and do the same thing again.
