Hello,

I have just booked a P535 from SEC (Star Electronics) for RM1988. They don't have stock so got to wait till Raya is over. No free miniSD with this one. Anyway, also went browsing for 2GB miniSD and the cheapest is RM80 (Kingston, I think).

I could not wait and not willing to pay for the Asus P750, which has everything, 3G, GPS, Quad GSM, etc.. Set to come out Oct or December. Price is unknown but its specs is all that anyone would want except QWERTY keyboard.

Went to search for spare battery for the P535 and the 'cheong' brand is RM80. Anyone can get better price or can get a higher capacity battery. I've spotted on the net, a 1450mAh and from Mugen, 3000mAh but the prices are not cheap esp the Mugen. 1300mAh is kinda small. Eten glowfish are using 1530mAh.

Anyway, hope to share and learn from you guys soon as a P535 user.

Found a 1600mAh for the P535 at eBay

http://cgi.ebay.com/1600-Battery-for-Asus-...4QQcmdZViewItem

Looks like it is cheaper to get at eBay (USD9.99 for battery + USD9.99 for Shipping and Handling).

With 23% more capacity, that will make the P535 usual 5 hours GSM talk time to 6.5hours if assuming linear power usage. rclxms.gif

I can't wait to get it next week. I had Garmin Que installed on my HP hx4700 but no GPS unit. Mainly using it as a electronic map for manual navigation. I hardly use the 4700 due to its huge footprint and weight. Wanted a big screen but then the price to pay is it just too burdensome to carry it around.

Wish all Muslim friends here "Selamat Hari Raya".

Collected my phone P535 today n just learning it. Came with Windows Mobile 6. It is still charging ..... Can't wait to fully learn it and use.

No Mapking 2007 came with this one. But I think I can get them to install some GPS maps for me if I want to later. I am going to try Garmin Que first.

2 years warranty seems to be better for RM80 more. But make sure the warranty covers what u expect. There are some crappy warranty which don't mean a thing at all, so find out the details before buying.

I love the led lights of the buttons, got green red blue white......

Beckham,

Did u mean the pastic/metal casing of the phone or the carrying case? I've seen the carrying case, but not encountered the plastic/metal casing.

The aftermarket carrying case is top/bottom loading, unlike the one that came with the phone, which is side loading.

Check out ebay for some of the accessories. They have 2 types of casing, 3 types of color on silicon skin (black, grey and white), 1600mAh batteries.

Anyone know how much does a screen protector cost for the Asus ? And where to get in Penang? Thanks

Have u found any for say.....Dopod or HTC or Palm ? I don't think I've seen them since these PDAs are relatively rare compared to pure handphones. It would be too expensive to make them considering the low quantity and demand.

I haven't found any on eBay either.

hi..how do you all configure the p535 so that the new phone contacts will be saved into sim cards instead of pda memory...thanks

A little off-topic to the question but I think this is a good utility.

I had wanted to transfer my SIMs to PDA Memory

It will copy all of the contacts in your SIM and then convert it to OUTLOOK contact. Works great! During the conversion, it appears to 'hang' but actually it is doing the conversion in the background. I have about 250 contacts in my SIM and it took about 2.5 to 3 minutes for the entire transfer. It appears to have hang but leave it for a while, it will do its job.

For your case, it is the reverse. Haven't tried it but it's worth the try.

I can confirm, latest P535 not bundled with Mapking software. So, I am using Garmin Que with maps from Malsingmaps.

For P535, hardware GPS set to COM2.

Assuming u read and understand the Wiki on setting up GPS proxy and Garmine Que

Then in GPS Proxy Wsian version 2.2c2, set Virtual Com Port to 5. Need to copy 2.2c2 files (all of it) to replace the stock GPS proxy downloaded from Soundforge.
If GPS Proxy cannot find a free Com port, soft reset.

Once GPS Proxy is setup, try Start to see if it can detect the satelites. Once detected, Garmin Que should work like a charm.

Side track a bit. I found the following settings good for indoor shots with the camera. Works great on outdoor too.

Go to edit your camera settings, under MENU, then flip to next page of settings. Choose the last most icon. Then goto Color Adjustment Tab.

Set Brightness to 2963
Sharpness to 54
Contrast to 5870

Quality of photos comparable to Sony Erickson Cybershot 3.1MP camera phone K810i for indoor shots. Outdoor shots for Asus P535 is never a problem, only indoors.

Good findings Wongp. You have the mindset for troubleshooting. Will keep this in mind if (hope not) mu unit starts to act up.

Just went to Asus Website and they did indicate that they will support WM6.1 upgrade for all PDA that was with WM6. Suppose to be August, this month for the upgrades.
