U need to install GPS proxy to enable tracking..learn more on how to install GPS proxy & how to save & view the tracklogs all in the wiki. rclxms.gif
Subsequent to the gps proxy, u will need to install Garmin Que too as this is the main software to show the GPS maps. without GPS proxy, Garmin que will not work unless u are using garmin GPSr

Added on January 19, 2008, 12:24 amI think last mth someone hv checked. The RM1999 is without Mapking. The retail price of mapking in Singapore is S$99 for Singapore maps..Not sure how much retailer in KL selling. U can buy Mapkings maps for Malaysia online too..can't remember how much..goto their website & check...rough idea should be ~RM250

For that price, it is easier for u to learn the hard way by follow the wiki in malsingmaps on how to install GPS proxy +Garmin Que which are virtually free!

I have 1 question to ask, the price of RM1999, is it exclude MapKing software? If I want to get a GPS software like MapKing, how much should I top up?

Thanks!

Does the shop like Fresh Gear help to install Mapking into P535? If so, does it mean that we pay for the Mapking software + Asus P535?

Thanks!

My p535 started to hang for no reason the last 2 days. I suspected it is the battery connection cos when I put it on a flat surface it will not hang after I switch it off and on it back again after an hour or so. But if I carry it around it will not on back after I press the on button and other keys.

How long does it take to repair loose connection between battery and the set?

IMHO 1999 without mapking is a pretty good deal. Relatively easy to go the Garmin way or get mapking by yourself in some other way thats way cheaper than 250$

just got the p535..

now installing the gpsproxy..kinda stuck..getting errors in the log

NMEA Input: GPS Port Error: UART
Error Framing,
Garmin Protocol Output: App Port Error
Wait Failed:0

This is what i have set

Virtual Com Port : COM5(selected), COM3
Extensions -> NMEA INPUT -> Configure -> GPS COM PORT -> COM2(GPS DEVICE)
Extensions -> NMEA INPUT -> Configure -> OUTPUT COM PORT -> COM5(GPSProxy Device)
Extensions-> Garmin Protocol Output - > Configure -> COM5(GPSProxy Device)
Settings -> (tick) Run External App After Proxy Startup (then add the path below) /MiniSD Card/Garmin/GarminQue.exe

when u add Virtual Com Port, COM3 will pop up, then add again COM5 pop up. should i remove the COM3?..

do i need to overwrite the gpsproxy 2.2 with 2.2c2?

in Garmin Interface page, there is no COM5 to choose?

Just to share my experience using GPS Proxy with my P525. May be bro Stimix will have better explanation since he using the same device as yours.

It is normal when you add the virtual com port it will give another com port eg. current COM3 when you add it will be COM5. No need to remove them. I remember keeping 3 virtual port COM0, COM5 and COM8.

Yes, you need to overwrite the original v2.2 with v2.2c

For setting:

Extensions -> NMEA INPUT -> Configure -> GPS COM PORT -> COM7(BT COM port)
I thick the "Log Input" and "Mirror GPS Input to Output Port"
Extensions -> NMEA INPUT -> Configure -> OUTPUT COM PORT -> COM5(GPSProxy Device)
Extensions-> Garmin Protocol Output - > Configure -> COM8(GPSProxy Device)

In Garmin Que Interface I select COM8 port.

in Garmin Interface page, there is no COM5 to choose? Sometime this thing do happened, but try to run the GPS proxy first & once the Garmin que auto boot-up, then only u set the Garmin interface page
