In light of recent Maxis fallout, I feel like I should share my story so others won't fall into the same trap as we did.

2 years ago when we started a new business, we wanted to have a 1300/1700/1800 number just to make the business more professional. So we enquire with Maxis (through Maxis website) and 2 days later they send us a dealer to sign us up.

At the time we sign up, we were told their system runs on mobile SIM. So when customers call the 1700 number it will actually be the mobile SIM that rings. We were told and given a document that there will be no monthly commitment and the service will be free if we sign up 3 SIM. So we did that.

To our surprise, we were charge RM 90 per month fee when we receive our invoice. We ring up Maxis Customer Service to complain and they told us they will call us back. Unfortunately this never happens. For the next few weeks we keep calling them, and they keep sending us to different department, and most of the time give us very lame excuse, eg. their system is down, another department has no people answering etc. There is this one time a customer service officer even told us the dealer who sign us up has already resigned and they can't check anything. I find that it's disgracefully to try to blame this to the dealer when they are the one who sent us the dealer in the 1st place.

After been muck around by Maxis for a couple of months, we decide to give up since all our printed materials (business card, brochures, flyers) has already have the 1700 number printed on them.

Now that 2 years has passed and our contract has ended, they are still charging us RM 90 per month fee (again the documents says it's FREE after contract is over). We find that this is a disgrace and we have a feeling that we have been scammed.

To all the people out there, please do not trust Maxis.
