For the beginning stage, this should be good enough as a wireless internet solution at a fixed location like at home or workplace. To use it as a mobile phone line would be risky if you frequently travel around due to their network coverage.
One possible solution I can see is to roam with Celcom 2G network whenever there is no network coverage from webe. Good for calls/SMS and slow speed data which should still allow messages from WhatsApp etc.

One of the comments on the main news site:

QUOTE(danieln @ Apr 8 2016, 09:11 AM) nanti on announcement day.. service available at limited locations only.... Definitely limited coverage in the early stages, it'll be all down to how fast they can expand. Similar to how U Mobile also started with very limited coverage and they had to roam with another telco.

QUOTE(^Ware^wolf @ Apr 8 2016, 10:52 AM) either one not telling the truth ..P1 said for staffs , but customer got it .... There were rumors saying that the plans we've seen like RM10 for 20GB, RM80 for unlimited and all are for staffs only. As for customers who got it, maybe it's just their beta testing phase as they had to register for interest before this.

QUOTE(nexona88 @ Apr 8 2016, 11:49 AM) wah like that. a lot people would be disappointed big time But then again, there shouldn't even be a published plan on a website if it's just for staff. It might be for a limited time or something as well. Can only wait for the official launch and see what they have to offer.

QUOTE(verticalar @ Apr 8 2016, 12:40 PM) I dont think they post at any public website as you see lowyat's posts are all from Google webcache which only if you have the link you may see it. So better wait until they launch a public/retail package if there is. As if it mention that is Beta/staff plans, we cant say/argue anything unless we are working for them... so just stay calm and sit back... What I meant was would you prepare the webpages if it was a staff-only plan which was never meant to be published out to the public?

QUOTE(aeiou228 @ Apr 10 2016, 07:20 PM) Can't detect webe signal using Xiaomi 1S and Honor 4X. So it's the phone problem or Webe not signal? You'll need to check if the phone supports LTE Band 38 or not. If it supports and still no webe signal (502-153) then no coverage at the area you're at for now.

QUOTE(aeiou228 @ Apr 11 2016, 12:45 AM) Thanks, I've just checked the specs of these two models, Honor 4x NETWORK FDD-LTE:B3/B7/B8/B20 UMTS:B1/B8 GSM:B2/B3/B5/B8 Xiaomi Redmi2 Mobile networks supported 4G Network FDD-LTE - Band 3 (1800 MHz) - Band 7 (2600 MHz) - Band 8 (900 MHz) 3G Network WCDMA - Band 1 (2100 MHz) - Band 8 (900 MHz) 2G Network GSM (900/1800 MHz) So these 2 models not supported? Based on this spec sheet, not supported which is probably why you might not be seeing 502-153 on these two phones. QUOTE(Xefron @ Apr 11 2016, 08:24 AM) make and receive calls are OK sending and receive SMS OK the only downside i need to guess the APN setting. but whatsapp and telegram can't send sms to my number yet.need to ask them to call instead of sending sms. What number prefix does webe use? 0111?

QUOTE(Xefron @ Apr 11 2016, 09:24 AM) prefix starting from 011-1000 XXXX (3+8 format) find a phone that can support as below GSM: 850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz WCDMA: Bands 1/2/5/8 FDD-LTE: Bands 1/3/5/7/8/20 TDD-LTE: Bands 38/40/41 confirm all telcos in Malaysia can use. What I noticed is 502-153 is a 4G only network. What happens when there's no coverage? Does it roam into a partner's network for voice calls and SMS, Celcom maybe?

QUOTE(Xefron @ Apr 11 2016, 09:33 AM) auto to 3G/2G network that rides on Celcom towers. Nice, plan to give webe a try as a secondary backup internet connection at home in case there's a problem with UniFi etc. Now just need to find a 4G LTE modem that supports Band 38, difficult to find one in Malaysia. QUOTE(kit2 @ Apr 11 2016, 09:42 AM) Unverified whether 38 or 40 but it's still TD-LTE nevertheless. If the device supports TD-LTE then it should support band 38 and 40. This post has been edited by OKLY: Apr 11 2016, 10:07 AM

QUOTE(JJKTP @ Apr 11 2016, 10:53 AM) Not necessarily, not all devices that support TD-LTE support all bands. True, I think better to get a device that supports TD-LTE band 38 and 40 to be safe. However, saw a member posted few pages back that showed a ZTE Blade Qlux connected to webe and this device only supports band 40 based on the spec sheet. So perhaps can say that webe will be on band 40 eh? I'm struggling to find a USB modem that supports TD-LTE to connect to my router so that it can act as a secondary backup internet. Most likely will have to import in. This post has been edited by OKLY: Apr 11 2016, 11:00 AM

QUOTE(kit2 @ Apr 11 2016, 11:35 AM) you can get usb modem from P1 after they have launched...no? Not sure, need to wait until they officially launch to know. Seems like they are focusing on mobile phone customers so they might have a phone bundle instead of a modem bundle. Also, will have to see what modem they are providing (if there's any) because my router won't be compatible with all USB modems.

QUOTE(longadam @ Apr 11 2016, 07:40 PM) Just found out that zenmax support band 38 Does it support band 40? I think it should be 40 considering how the ZTE Blade Qlux only supports 40 and not 38 and yet still can connect to webe.
