EDIT: Link to all recommended games preview and review here!!

I have been asked to complie a list of games that should be recommended. Good games that need to be purchased at all cost and bad games that need to be avoided at all cost too.

And taken into consideration of it all, i have decided to try to compile a list of them. But there is a snag in this compilation. I need input from all of you. So here i hope you guys can recommend games that you think is good.

Try to floow this kind of format

Title:
Genre:
Reason it is good/bad:

Please refrain from fanboyism, and when supplying reason. Give at least one paragraph of good reason. Try not to just say, IT ROX! or Get it coz it is fun. Give compelling reasons. I will then look into the game and update it onto the pinned FAQ topic.

Thank you for your help!!!

Edit: Oh paiseh forgot to add. Explain what kind of game is it. For example. Mario, A platform 2d game which requires player to jump onto monster and save the princess. Various level and have only slight touch screen compatibility.

Title: Gyakuten Saiban aka Phoenix Wright
Genre: Lawyer / Investigation
Reason:
Good
Not easy, very clever way to build a game that requires you to memorize and think things and also from time to time finding lies with evidence. Great storyline!

Bad
Reading lots of words might get people bored. Only got little replay value because u know the answer already. Unless you wanna see the story again. smile.gif

Title:Elite beat Agents
Genre:Rhythm action
The good: Extremely interesting storyline, endless replay value,it plays great but most inpotantly, it feels great. A great library of licensed soundtracks from artists like David bowie , madonna,Steriogram,Avril Lavigne,Billy Fogarty, Earth Wind and fire,Good Charlotte and oh come on, it doesn't get better than that!!!
the bad: Insane difficulty might be a bad thing for the average gamer. And Commander Kahn's moves are so gay.

Title:Metroid Prime Hunters
Genre:Action;shooter
Reason:
The good: The game developers really concentrated on multiplayer for this game, and so we have a game with superb multiplayer. It supports online play aswell and voice chat. The controls will redefine the way we play FPS forever, as it works perfectly well(on to the learning curve later). Totally awesome graphics that can be compared with sony's PSP.
The bad: Very steep learning curve for the controls. if you want this game, you must spend hours learning how to control it well. Very bad storyline, like I said earlier, the game emphasizes on multiplayer. Terrible boss battles and boring single player mode.

Title: Final Fantasy III
Genre: RPG
Description: Final Fantasy III is a remake of the Japanese Final Fantasy III of the NES. Before the DS remake, it has never been released outside Japan.

The Good: Final Fantasy III provides versatility, with the Job System. It may not be as innovative, as say, FFVII's Materia system, or the FFX's Sphere Grid system or even the FFX-2's Dress Sphere system, but it gets the job done. As a result of this, the game provides alot of possibilities for you to decide on what party on what do you want to go with. Do you want an all out physical attacking party, or an all magical party attacking furiously with magic? The choice is yours. Final Fantasy III also provides a challenge to gamers, unlike the current generation of Final Fantasies, so it is not so easy to breeze through the game.

The graphics of the game are superb, and it has one of the best graphics seen on the DS handheld system.

The Bad: The game often times does not clearly tell you where to go, so often times you will find yourself lost. There is also a noticable lag in gameplay whenever there are too many things on screen. The save system is also not liked by many, as you can only permanently save on the world map, which means players must be very careful with their actions in the dungeons, because if they die somewhere near the end, they will have to do the whole dungeon again. (This is especially true for the final area)

Is this too long?

Ditto on Elite Beat Agents.

Nothing is quite as satisfying when you ace Jumpin' Jack Flash on Sweatin' difficulty and be surprisely rewarded by the ultra cute trios called the ELITE BEAT DIVAS.

If you thought it was strange playing thru 3 difficulty levels using male dancers .. well .. let's just say the Elite Beat Divas gives the game an entirely new perspective and challenge once you unlock them!

Multiplayer is fun too with competitions based events like Iron Chef, guitar competition etc.

A truly great Touch Generation title.

Yeah it's certainly the best Touch Generations title ever for the DS. You have no idea how loud I shout out when I beat JJF Sweatin' mode! My dad yelled at me for 5 minutes for shouting so loud! EBD's graphics are very bad vmad.gif , but gameplay very nice smile.gif There's another big surprise when you beat every song in the game....Commander Kahn!!!

Title: New Super Mario Brothers
Genre: 2D Platform

The good: Old school with new taste, easy for beginners and good replayability value. Great world setup and tons of secrets to unlock.

The bad: Short gametime as no need to complete all worlds to advance to the next. Apart from that, everything's good.

Title:Mario Kart DS
Genre:Racing
The good: The Nintendo DS version of the most popular unrealistic racing game ever is a huge hit! Mario Kart DS let's you race as Mario, Luigi and all other characters from the Mushroom Kingdom in more than 30 tracks. Mario Kart DS has a solid Multiplayer mode which also let's you play with anyone in the world via Nintendo Wi-fi Connection! Mario Kart DS also has a new 'Mission' Mode that gives you challanges around MKDS race tracks that you have to complete.
the bad: Single-Player is very boring because bots are not much of a challange at all. Multiplayer and Wi-fi play will lag at times. New powerups aren't all that exciting too.

Title: Meteos
Genre: Puzzle

About
A puzzle game with a twist. Instead of rotating blocks, you move them around after they land. The catch is that you can only move them up or down.

The Good
Hectic pace of the game keeps you on your toes all the time. Varies enough to keep you peel to the screen. Offers quick fun as the game is easy to pick up and put down.

The Bad
Graphics not exactly the prettiest thing you will see on the DS.

Title: Trauma Center: Under The Knife
Genre: Operating Surgeries
Description: Trauma Center: Under the Knife lets YOU play doctor, performing increasingly complex surgeries. The stylus will be your scalpel as you make incisions, anesthetize problem areas, remove tumors, monitor vital signs, apply bandages, and more! This maybe the most original game ever made in gaming industry!
Reason:
Good
Great use of stylus; variety of operations and techniques, challenge mode lets you revisit each operation to improve ranking. In a sense, you actually feel like you are a doctor, because there is rarely a moment to relax before the next problem emerges.
Bad
Underwhelming visuals, unrealistic procedures, lengthy dialogue sequences. Trauma Center cannot be considered a simulation, since most of the procedures are unrealistic. And also, some people are phobia to surgeries.

Title: Tetris DS
Genre: Puzzle
Description: In addition to the standard Tetris mode we all know and love, Tetris DS has five additional play modes such as, Mission Mode, Puzzle Mode, Touch Mode, Push Mode and Catch Mode. But true to form, Nintendo has added just enough in the way of new content and features to make this a must-buy for puzzle fans.
Reason:
Good
Some of the new play modes are excellent, great multiplayer. Tetris for Everyone!
Finally, there's multiplayer, 10 people can play locally using only one Tetris DS card. Wi-Fi multiplayer match is simple yet fun and you can have match ranking with the worldwide Tetris DS player.
Bad
A couple of the play modes like touch mode and catch mode may get boring after for a long play. Touch Mode might make player uncomfortable especially on rotating the block which may also confuse player.

Hmm.. Tetris is a good game but not a recommended game for a new DS player. As they will definetly look for something mroe intersting and new for their DS.

Title: Winning Eleven DS
Genre: Sports, Football (To Americans...Soccer)
Description: Popular Console/PC football game comes to the Nintendo DS. The game features a plethora of teams (both club and country) and several modes of play such as Exhibition, Penalty Shoot Out, Konami Cup and Training. Participate in the World Tour mode to unlock more teams and to gain coins to purchase better players (You slot the coins into a gacha machine). You can also participate in local WiFi matches with a friend or compete globally over the WFC.

Reason:
Good
Excellent gameplay coupled with nice, functional graphics and animation. Local WiFi and Nintendo WFC enabled. Plenty of modes, teams, and players to ensure good replay value. Currently available at a bargain price of USD 19.90 (!) at Play-Asia (here)

Bad
Game suffers from occasional lag both in single player and WFC matches. Currently the game is in Japanese.

Warioware Touched - still a blast to play. A collection of quickfire quirky mini games that you gets faster and faster over time. How quirky? Like digging your nose, scratching your armpits, blowing balloons and inflatable dolls (literally by blowing your breath into the mic!). Its a perfect showcase of the abilities of the DS and the versatility of the stylus and the mic. Its a game for all ages.

Age of Empires - if RTS is your thing. Its a nice time sucker during flights. It'll you want to know more and brush up on history too when you play characters like Richard the Lionheart and Joan of Arc.

Dragon Quest - those darn frantic tank battles!

Cooking Mama - i dont know why this game never took off but hey .. its the ultimate chick game! Not much depth but these kinds of DS games are meant to be pick up and play affairs anyway - so for your 15 min fix, its a relaxing play cooking Salisbury steak and gyoza ..

Mariokart - this is killer app goodness at its best. And if you so happen to have multiple DS's at home (i have amassed 6 over the past 1.5 years - for equality and sanity's sake's of those at home) - the multiplayer racing is just insane and brilliant. Hard to beat the fun factor you get from a single card. I play multiplayer Cardhouse Games as well but heck .. there is no more simple pleasure than beating the crap out of each other in Mariokart.

Wariorware touched is a good experience. But its not exactly a very very worth it game.
Age of empires have been replaced with Advance war. Advance war have slightly better interface.
Dragon quest slime is too short.

Cooking mama. Good suggestions. Let me look into it.

Wouldn't DQH: Rocket Slime be good for it's replayability? To my understanding, the story is short as you say, but the replayability is there (as stated, tank battles)

Title: Yoshi Island DS
Genre: 2D sidescrolling platformer
Description: A mario-like platformer featuring lots and lots of yoshis of different colours. A classic 2D platformer with added twists and mini-games for more replayability value.

Good: Classic 2D sidescroller game at its very best, only second to New Super Mario Bros on the DS. Really addictive, once you pick it up, couldn't stop playing. And the yoshis are oh so cute... tongue.gif

Bad: Could be a bit more challenging on the levels, boss fights are okay though.

Reveur, is this going to be a vote or will you just be making the final decision anyway. Like when you decided to omit Tetris coz u think its too hard.

I'd like to vote for tetris to be reconsidered. Replayablitiy on that game is excellent, level of difficulty ramps up nicely from noobs to hardcore players and multiplay is great too. Every DS owner should have a tetris cartridge ready so that when you meet another DS owner, you can immediately start playing laugh.gif

I'd also like to vote for:

Title: Osu Takake Ouendan
Genre: Screen Tapping Rhythm Action
Reason it is good/bad:
Good: If you think Elite Beat Agents then you will love this title too. Has a nice mix of tracks that IMO is better that the ones in EBA. The tapping's synchonization with the music is also better in Ouendan that in EBA IMO.
Bad: It's in Japanese (but should not be much of a problem for this game). It's also almost impossible to find in stores locally.

Actually Tertris, i didnt vote it out coz its too hard. But i reconsider it coz of the fact that you can get tertris anywhere. And i am taking it from a new ds owner point of view. I wouldnt want to play a Tertis on my ds. I wan play something cool Something pretty and something fun. I might get a Tertis later. But now? I want something i cant get anywhere else except on DS.

I actually weighted between Ouendan and EBA, and since we already have EBA. Do we want to put Ouendan in ? Or is there something betteR?

Infinite spin is where the piece lands, lock is canceled by either rotating the piece or just by moving it. This rule set by the Tetris company, and also the Tetris guideline for all future licensed Tetris games. (Or authentic as seen behind the box)

In TDS vs. mode (local and NiWiFi), infinite spin only lasts just a few seconds to prevent "cheating".
