My very 1st proper RPG is on PC : Eyes of the Beholder
then tonnes of other great western RPGs like Ultima series, Lands of Lore & etc

1st RPG on console is FF3, never complete the game as the final boss are unbeatable (didn't know you need to defeat the 4 mini-boss first until many many years later )

Then on MD, hooked on Phantasy Stars 2, 3 and so on
(Weapon duplicate FTW!)

SNES, truly hooked on FF6, my all time fav JRPG
That time we hav Jap version only, non of us can read Jap, but somehow we still kinda understand the storyline and managed to complete it

then on PS, FF7 for me it's ok only, didn't understand what's the hype with it
but love the FFX on PS2, FFX-2 is kinda weird for me, didn't finish it

But my fav JRPG on PS2 is still DQ8
Great graphic, fun story, great gameplay, and fantastic system

Then the horror of FF13 on PS3
After that, most of the JRPG are kinda going down hill

Was sticking to western sandbox RPGs like Fallout for quite a while, and once a while picking up the classic JRPGs like older FFs, Suikoden, and DQ series on my NDS/3DS and PSV handheld

Now the only JRPG I'm looking forward to is DQ8 re-release on 3DS, and the DQ11 on PS4

Ayam I Am Setsuna, an old school turn based JRPG will be releasing today

BGM and style seems pretty nice, battle system similar to Chrono trigger, got airship ala FF series as well...

looks like a modern release of a mixed good old days of JRPG game.

everything need to be fast, fast & fast

hardly any new players will appreciate the turn based battle system, or random encounter, face it guys, those are already the relics from the past.

well, consider us lucky we still have access to tonnes of those classic RPGs either in the form of HD re-releases, e-shop, or even emulators

I'm not looking forward for any of the new JRPG releases already, (except the latest upcoming DQXI, which seems doesn't change much from it's original core), knowing their golden era already long gone, unlike last time I always flipping thru the game mags looking for latest JRPG news.

booted up DQ7 on my 3DS over the weekend, been ignoring it too long
just wanna trying it out

and unknowingly, I've spend most of my weekend playing it

Now that's what I call a proper remaster of JRPG: maintaining the JRPG turn based spirit but with some updated modern graphics & mechanism without sacrificing the gameplay & story

now I'm crossing me fingers hoping SE will wake up and bring DQ8 to PS4

yeah, played that DBZ series, know nuts about Jp at the time, all guess work at the time, have to memorize the menu and the name of the special moves
first few days just play blindly one
That time got lots of time and patient on our hand mah, failed? wrong command? reset & try again!
Level up stat roll not your liking? reset!
cards roll not your liking? reset!
super attack missed? reset!
those were the days

always played together with friends, I remembered the time we managed to turn into super saiyan for the 1st time, we all scream hysterically, and that was midnight and woke up the whole house, got a good scolding in return


now? I think after I tried for 5 mins sure quit liao

last time game must play 100% completion one, every char must grind to max level 99 with every stat maxed 999 before the final boss
end up final boss is piece of cake

realized a bad decision made halfway the game? nvm, reset & restart only bah

now? most likely I'll either continue playing with the bad decision just wanna complete the game, or just quit altogether

can't run diagonally is a small issue

the problem with some old rpg is you can't even RUN

those really are the one I had problem picking it up again, really can't stand the sloooow walking pace

My P4G is still collecting dust, haven't even finished 5% of the game
almost impulse buy this one also, luckily pulled handbrake

one of my drawer bottom FF, it doesn't age well compared to the previous FFs
remastered in HD textures won't fix many of the horrible ugly polygons
anyway, always hated their Draw Magic system

thinking to take a dip into the Atelier series, never played any of them before

any recommendation which to start first on PS4?
