Of course, agree on the postage of the new card but disagree on the fees.

My parents are long timers with HLB, the other day all rumbling over on how we spent too much on the bill and well, well, around 2.5-3k was on annual fees for 3-4 cards. 1k each card? And even if want rebate or waiver, have to visit their branch and paperwork all also have to take into account. doh.gif I never believed the word because I also took it for granted its also free like debit card.

Moreover, StanChart and Maybank credit cards also have to pay annual fees. Can come up to 400 plus for a card, really cheated.

My debit card is free-of-charge for every 5-7 year change so it is not really a worry for me though I do like the points collection and some cash discounts for payments on credit cards.

Yup, HLB gave me a debit card also when I opened a savings account, I won't be charged anything as long as the account has rm200 carried over to next month sweat.gif
I'm losing rm0.50 of interest every month if were taking FD's interest rate of 3% doh.gif

Nowadays theres deals 10% 15% if buy online via lazada, 11street and other website..can also use shopback to get cashback. On top of that this does not include the cashback and points from the credit card it self.

long term can save if youre discipline and pay in full before due date.

Well, don't just look at those 10% discounts as sometimes it is more expensive than street price.

I agree that both debit and credit card gives us a benefit in term of CB especially.
But nowadays the CB in debit card has been revise and some of them doesn't give CB on domestic usage sweat.gif no choice but to use credit card.
And yes most of the time I get constance CB from cc smile.gif

i think HLB charge RM 8.48 (including GST) annually for the debit card, even if the account has average of RM 200 /mth if i not mistaken.

unless they gave you ATM card instead of debit card.

Rm800 per month only, but will get RM2k+ after convert.

Thinking of get a free annual fee CC. Maybank 2 Card is consider as my choice, will go try after convert.
*
For Maybank 2 card (gold), if not mistaken, the entry requirement is RM 36k annual income.
that will be about RM 3k/ mth assuming you do not have other income such as shift allowance, OT, etc.

Alternatively, you can pledge FD with them. the amount that you deposit FD with them, will be your credit limit ( You can check with Maybank for more detail on this)

Else, you can always go for other CC first, that you can pass their entry requirement....then switch to Maybank 2 CC when your annual income hit their entry level.

yes, nowadays memang got cash buyer.. if he/she is buy for own stay.. then good.. haha, no need to pay interest.
but if is for investment..... sudah hilang opportunity cost if use cash.

i know few ppl use cash, coz they don't have records/documents to show, in order to borrow loan.

other banks also same.. for debit card..

if atm card only, i think no charge.

Flippers also paying cash but rare.
Now the Chinese from China are doing mass buying(last week about 50 buses came to my area) also are taking loans, so a big meltdown in the making.

You can try CIMB card too.
The cash back card got quite a low entry.

Depending on your monthly salary.

if at the application form, you comment that you take from the branch, then is faster.
if send to your mailing address, it will take between 5-8 working days.
