No rain X wiper will spoil too. Its just a time. Silicon wiper last longer but not its clip or bracket. Its a rubber & plastic.

This has been asked for years since the Rain-X introduced. No, it will not damage wiper rubber either normal or silicone type. The wiper get damage by weather and also UV from sun.
The only problem some people see it that once the Rain-X worn off the windshield the wiper shudder because the wiper blade probably has be coated with the Rain-X earlier from fresh application of Rain-X. So, Rain-X is good for car that does not has wiper |

complete bulshit that guy told u
i've been using rainX since i start owning car 11 years ago. yes it will damage ur wiper IF.. 1. WET THE WIPER WITH THE LIQUID! so please apply rainX and let it sip through ur glass fractures..and dry so i suggest apply it during sunny day. 1. wash windshield with soap throughly and let it dry. 2. then apply rainx, apply evenly and let it dry. |

IMO, If your car is parked in the hot sun often, wipers being rubber, will deteriorate and harden faster. Afterall wipers are consumables and changed when it doesn't perform well. RainX can also encourage some deterioration but not as fast as hot sunlight and weather which will deteriorate anything including paintwork. Change when necessary, wipers are not made to last for long long time in Malaysia. At best is 5 years, if always parked in cool place and not used very often. It will age as usual, nevertheless.
I've used RainX sparingly on all my cars since the 80s and I reckon it serve its purpose on a very rainy session, I won't bother being penny wise pound foolish, just replace the wiper blades when I feel it need to be replaced. RM30 something for a pair for some decent branded set after say 2 years? This post has been edited by bsl555: Apr 5 2016, 02:57 PM |

One wat to prolong the lifetime of your wiper is to lift it up when the car is parked under direct sunlight. The sunlight will heat up the mirror and the high temperature of the wind screen will spoil the rubber faster. I lift my wiper up every single time when parked under sunlight, guess what? It last me more than 6 months already, and it's still working perfectly now!! Simplest and easiest way to save money. don't need to get those expensive wipers and hope they will last long.

Rain-X works and it is only less than RM20. Cheap and cheerful, but please keep your windscreen clean.

I use Rain-X and silicone wiper for so many years now.... ok aje.. takder pun apa2 problem.
perhaps it's because I always pull my wiper up when I am parking the car overnight. p/s: my current DuraEdge silicone wiper has been with me for the past 5-6 years I think. |

QUOTE(MeToo @ Apr 6 2016, 02:48 PM) those ppl who say "I use rain x for xyz years never have problem"... I have to disagree. I tried that, the wiper is still fine.is true if u use and continue to use rain x u will not have problem. the problem starts immediately after u STOP using it. go try and see I think your application got problem, or your windscreen is simply too dirty. |
