Hi guys,

Just an update for my previous post on my router giving me very slow speeds on TIME's 300mbps.

The technician came over, identified that connecting directly to the Hua Wei Modem gives me 300 mbps on speedtest.net . Connecting the modem to the router only gives a 7 mbps result on Ethernet. And yea, the technician was still not able to find out what is causing the problem. Will wait for TIME's response on that.

In the mean time, does anyone know any settings on the DLINK router that can cause speed to reduce drastically? I have tested Cat6, Cat5e cables and tried resetting the router. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi guys , i had to remake an account on lowyat after having problems logging into my older inactive account. Anyways, i got TIME last friday and was a little disapointed with the tech guys as when they left my place, the wireless speed was around 160 to 180 ( my package is the 300mbs package). Anyways , i told them on facebook and their tech guy called me at 9.30pm and walked me through trouble shooting etc until 11.30 pm. Anyways, i managed to get 300mb on the LAN cable but still 100plus wireless. I wasnt too bothered with the wireless, 100plus should be sufficient enough as the LAN cable was important for me . Anyways , fast forward to today and now im getting around 7mbs on my cable @.@ ... tried calling them but no answer as always and i just shoot them an email. Btw my lan cable is connected to the router. So after reading the post above, i decided to register a new account and tell me experience as well because i feel that there might be a few of us who are facing the same problem.

i had the same issue, 100mbps package, but got only 7-8mbps.
after some troubleshooting, found out there was some issue with my dlink 850l configuration. not sure what it was though.
i just factory reset & reconfigured it, and now my speed is back up to 100mpbs.

Can u share with us the procedure ? thanks in advance.

you can refer to terence_nwb and TXSim, them already show u the step..
before you do reset, make sure you have PPPOE username and password (usually written on the installation paper)

thanks for your recomendations bro, i have gotten in touch with brother TXSim and he informed me that he would help me out when hes free

Alright guys, so here is the latest update.
TIME call center called me about 20 mins ago and for the 3rd time, they just reset things at their end ( ask me to close all and on back after 10 mins) , take screen shot of both wifi and cable and send to their email. For the 3rd time , they said they will get back to me the following day. I have a feeling , they either to lazy to go through the entire trouble shooting process or they are not bothered. Nvm, thanks to the few experts we have in this forum , i will start by following some of their suggestions and lets see what happens.
Wish me luck.

now time still not support landed property?
*
Unfortunately no because TM are smart. They officially bought all the Electric poles that u see outside your house on the roads. Infact, i read somewhere that they signed a contract with the government in the late 70s. The only place where TIME is available via landed property is in Cyberjaya only :'(

What to do... TM and the government Kamching already ... that is the definition of the word, ' Crony' .

And if u ask me, no way TM will ever share their lines with TIME because if u notice yesterday in our local news, the government promise 4G to sarawak in the following 5 years only ! ( until the following sarawak GE)
Say if open competition exist, TM will get slaughtered just like how Maxis is getting slaughtered after U-Mobile launched their new post paid rm70 plan. Even Celcom also had to introduce a new plan which is almost as similar to U-mobile's one.

can you share what has been done?
*
Well, everything became back normal after resetting the router to factory default. What you need to do is that you need to insert a pin below the router ( there is a tiny hole there with a button inside ) and pin down the pin to the button for at least 10 seconds ( yellow light > blinking orange light > stable orange light > stable yellow light) .
If you dont follow the step as above, the router wont detect any connection and you wont be able to utilize the internet to insert the settings ( PPPoe username, password) into the router via 192.168.0.1/192.168.1.1.

I would like to ask if its safe to download everything without a VPN ? hmm.gif
Since we have faster speed now, do you think its safe to go on a ' wild' download spree? or do you guys think covering our asses with VPN is a must ? Because i remember reading back in 2013 that Singapore's broadband companies had to issue warnings and release info of their clients who downloaded those oscar winning movies after they claim copyright damages ( if im not mistaken, one of the movie was Dallas Buyers Club). Because trust me , once u guys get at least 100mbps or 300mbs, your fingers will become very itchy one and start downloading like MAD! tongue.gif

If yes, which VPN do you guys recommend ?

Been TIME customer for a week. Terminated Unify on Monday. So far so good. I'm happy.

But i hope TIME can improve their CS as i heard quite a lot complaint that CS/Technical services not resolving issues soonest possible.

My experience with Telekom CS, is that they will do basic troubleshooting and if not resolve they will quickly escalate and make sure their technician will be in front our doorstep in next working day.

That is among reason i was glued to TM even though my condo is TIME ready for 5 years till TIME come up with this package.

I really hope i can similar kind of service from TIME.Currently I'm promoting TIME my neighbors.

yes u are 100% spot on, however im assuming that TIME entire team of workers is nowhere near as TM's who is part of a government body. That is the main reason why they are extremely reluctant to send workers over. For instance, i was facing some problems recently and instead of sending a technician over, they resorted to calling me every night and inquire on updates . I still think that those who opts to get TIME are in good hands especially if they are an active member here on Lowyat Forums as you can get help from some of the 'gurus' here instead. I eventually fixed my problems by getting brother jjj2 and TXSim help.

For new user, what fee need to pay on the spot? Is it necessarily to upgrade a new router from TIME? I'm currently a Streamyx user.
*
I was also a new user 2 weeks back (from UNIFI), i just registered my plan TIME 300, and they brought along a router, modem and a cordless telephone ( pay as u use ). All included in the plan although im not sure about 100mbps plan. I used the ' flexy- switch ' program from UNIFI to TIME so they will compensate me back the rm500 penalty that UNIFI charged me for breaching my contract with them.

Hope that helps to answer your question.

seems like i submitted my application but TIME hasnt called me back to confirm the installation date also. Here i thought I can get it this weekend. its over

I feel like you will get a faster response if you go through agents instead of going through them online. At least i got a reply from my agent directly the next day ( installation date ) .

The flexy-switch is called RM 500 rebate.

Normally TIME have 1 month free or RM 500 rebate switching from TM and Maxis.
*
Yes u are right, i got the rebate of rm500 from them .

The rebate is better for existing user with TM or Maxis.

i am just wondering, is the rebate only applicable for UNIFI ( fibre ) users or are STREAMYX users also given the same treatment? hmm.gif

just wanted to share with you guys. Im happy with my TIME-300 plan.
As u can see in the picture below, by right, my download speed should be capped at 30MBps (300Mbps) but somehow TIME allows the flexibility to reach 35MBps (350Mbps) unlike TM whereby u will never even reach the plan you subscribed to , i.e 10Mbps plan , but only reach 5 or 6 Mbps.

Attached below is my STEAM pre-loading the up and coming game DOOM.
