Hi guys, I am still thinking of either getting TIME or Unifi, I was leaning more towards TIME previously (for obvious reason) but recently I've heard a people complains saying that their TIME internet connections were unstable, lost of connections every now and then, is this true to anyone else here?

By the way, I live in Bayan Lepas, Penang
*
Hi. I'm from Bayan Lepas.

The speed is stable, faster and better.

No hiccups if you stay at different building.

In KL, a lot of issues there. So far here don't have any complaints.

In Penang, less hassle.

Hope you will be part of TIME Family.

Latency is better than Unifi.

Thanks

Great to see the speed.
Download speed is achievable with 100Mbps.

Upload speed cannot get 100Mbps via wireless N.

Tanjung Tokong, Penang.... maintenance or something tonight?

im on 300mbps. Usual speedtest gives or take around 200-260mbps.
*
Your latency is too high.

Try restart your WiFi Router and ONU.

It seems that something is not right with your line.

Do let me know how it goes.

Latency should be 9ms - 10 ms

exactly, latency should be 9-10ms, and 3 digit speed.

Restarted multiple times over the night, rested few minutes in between restarts. Changed fiber optic cable with the spare i had from office, switch ports, bypassed router, tested different LAN cables, disabled google DNS, flushed DNS, tested on other device and laptop/PC at home.

Same result.

Safe to assume not problem on my end?
*
Google DNS also same results?

Call CS to refresh your port.

Which router you are using?

Never heard of tenda before, but it does offer better specs compared to TPLINK.
*
Better specs is a yes.
Since there is no service center to send Tenda for warranty claim.
They offer better specifications as in low cost.
Since now not all shops selling Tenda Routers.

QUOTE(kmrdeva @ Feb 18 2017, 12:58 PM)
Dunno how good or stable Tenda firmware is but on paper the Tenda has better processor and more memory.

https://wikidevi.com/wiki/Tenda_AC15

https://wikidevi.com/wiki/TP-LINK_Archer_C7_v3.x

https://wikidevi.com/wiki/ASUS_RT-AC1200
*
Heard my reseller said this Tenda have a some issues like not connecting to ISP.

I chose TP-Link over Tenda cause I'm afraid warranty is difficult to claim.
Archer C9 User here.
So far this model is good.
Solve my problem for wireless signal and speed.

Improve everything.
Existing Router : ZTE H298N ( Before D-Link 850L)

Have a few friends using Tenda but heard no complaints from them so far.

Asus RT-AC68U user here. Powerful, stable, strong wifi but expensive (in my opinion).
*
Depend on the product quantity.
ASUS so far very expensive, didn't choose.
I didn't choose D-Link cause I know last time using streamyx.
Every time have to restart.

Now D-Link 850l giving other customers problem.

QUOTE(kmrdeva @ Feb 18 2017, 02:41 PM)
Ha ha. When I bought the ac68u, I didn't know about Tenda. wink.gif

I had used TP-Link routers and powerline kits before. Also good and prices are more reasonable but tbh, I'm now an Asus fan.
*
For me. Last time I don't like TP-Link.

Now I changed mind and like TP-Link.
Since last time TP-Link ADSL model not good.
Wireless model like for Unifi, TIME and Maxis is better.

I have 2 TP-Link devices in my house.

Wireless Router and Wireless Nano Router.

My school is using TP-Link Switches.

can we setup ONU direct out lan to wifi repeater? i mean:

ONU -----  WIFI REPEATER  (direct no pass router)

i tried connect but need ip config. nothing happen

anyone can share? can i do that?
*
You need to set PPPoE for connection.

Wireless Repeater won't help without PPPoE connection.

can share how to setup PPPoe in order i can use direct from ONU to my tplink home plug extender / wifi repeater? coz is direct out from ONU will this setup will increase the speed? (coz not thru router)
This not help for speed?
*
Which router model that you are using?

Since this is just a powerline.
It won't work with that.

This is used for better internet from LAN cable.
For example. If you want to use LAN cable instead of WiFi in the room.
This is the method to use.

One end connect to router in the hall
One end connect to PC in the room.

This is not an AC Router.
So the speed won't increase.

yes i understand the function of extender / wifi repeater. Im using the old ZTE white colour router provided by TIME.
i wanna do bypassing router so that can increase my internet speed or not. So i can know that my router is the main down side for my internet speed
*
ZTE Router provided from TIME and the 300Mbps will give you exact same speed.

However, you may go for a new Wireless AC WiFi Router.
I can suggest you.
1. TP-Link Archer C7
2. TP-Link Archer C9
3. Tenda AC15

QUOTE(topeng perak @ Feb 18 2017, 04:44 PM)
what router you currently use?
*
He is using ZTE H298N provided by TIME.
This router became worse until speed upgrade.

Previously was on 10 Mbps plan
Now upgraded to 100 Mbps plan and upgrade router to Archer C9

If I'm switching to Time from Maxis, what is the best way to minimize the down time? Apply time -> Install Time -> Cancel Maxis? Or need to cancel maxis first?
*
Hi,

The best way by using easy switch rebate.

You may refer your PM for more info.

TIME will absorb Maxis Penalty.

*
TIME don't block website via DNS.

During the last week, DNS having issues cause network.
Now it is working.

So there's no restrictions to any sites? Unlike TM, where we need to change the default dns to public/google dns to access certain sites?

And do you happened to know the current default router by TIME?
*
Hi, TIME doesn't perform torrent P2P and blocking website.

D-Link 850l will be provided for 100 Mbps and 300 Mbps plan

Linksys EA6350 will be provided for 500 Mbps plan

Thanks.

So if you're in front of the router you get 100 Mbps via speedtest?

And if you move else where - how much slower is it?
*
If you move away.

Slightly slower.

Sometimes I can get 80 - 99 Mbps on 100Mbps from my room.
With full signal.

80-99 is very good already...i get about 50-60 Mbps - but then again there are many walls from where my router is placed so its acceptable - previously was 30 Mpbs with the DIR 850
*
Hi, just to tell you that I'm using TP-Link Archer C9

This router is good.

Even 2.4GHz can get that speed if settings changed in Wireless Settings.
