Hold your horses. Wait for wifi ax. Will hit 1gbps average throughput. Intel will integrate this into wiskey lake. Router will be on the way. Finger cross they will not be expensive.

Mine just upgraded... for 300mbps

Getting 890 mbps on LAN line,

WIFI AC 1900 (router and end devices 5 meters with wall) getting around 590mbps using 'fast' speed test

How early can we downgrade?

For those old timer like $129, $179. How time going to adjust?
$129 to 500mbps. Price still stay 129? Or $139? Or -$20 rebate for 2 years? Resume back to $139 after that?
$179 to 1gbps or 500mbps? Price still same $179 for 1gbps. Or price down to $139 for 500mbps?
Now all entitled for free router upgrade?
