Hi All Mums,

I am buying a breast milk pump for my wife and we decided to get a double pump but when we go to different shops they keep recommending different brands rclxub.gif

Can please share with me what brand & model is good? So far we have come across these brands:

Philips Avent
Lacte
spectra
authumnz
medela

So of her friends say to get a pump that can operate on batter & direct power so the pump is more powerful and can be mobile as well.

Hope mum's pls share your experience with your pumps. thanks!!!

You can go to pumponthego branches to check out the pumps and try them on for yourself

http://www.pumponthego.com/our-branches/

I'm currently using Autumnz Serene double pump. It ticks all the requirement that I need in a pump. Best part is the price.. less than RM500.

- Double pump
- Very quiet
- Very light
- Has rechargable battery that can last a few sessions (no need to carry power bank)
- Has direct power cable
- Soft silicon funnel
- Parts very easy to get and not too exp compared to medela
- Has 2 tubes - so can choose to use it as a single pump or double pump
- Can use with freemie collection cup
- Can convert to manual pump with extra accessory (buy seperately)

I'm currently using Spectra S1. And it meets everything listed above too and it is hospital grade and it is very powerful. It is bulkier than other model or brands but it is also far more powerful and very quiet. I would suggest you to to the pumponthgo branches and compare the suctions and the noise level for yourself.

But it's a little costly and bulky. So I think it is up to the user also. For me, I only pump at work and middle of the night. So at work I leave the whole bag with pumps and cooler bag in the nursing room and it is convenient.

One of my colleague is using Spectra M1 - it is smaller but louder, suction is less and she uses freemie at her desk LOL.. I couldn't do it

But I guess if one is exclusively pumping, a portable one may be better

Ya it matters a lot. Hence need to try out diff pumps for diff requirements.

I'll have to carry my pump wherever I go since I'll be based in a hospital and will probably need to walk around a lot, so I opted for something light.

Add freemie to the mix and I'm a happy momma biggrin.gif

this depends on your budget actually, i bought spectra 9plus i ask my friend in Korea to get it for me, it was RM450 back then.

It's light and portable and its easy to tinker with; my wife dropped it couple of times causing the pump to be mis-aligned i fixed this myself.

Initially i thought breastfeeding is cheaper. Now with such expensive pumps, that's no longer true. Need to continue pumping for longer period to make the investment worth it.

I used to use Avent single pump for 8 months plus, when I bought, I never to do any survey, only heard before the Avent brand. After I bought, I felt it consumed a lots time and yield was lesser.

At the end, last month baby fair, I decide to change pump, Lacte Duet Double pump, 429, I am very happy that it shorten my time and yield is increase with extra 2oz, as my supply is just enough for my little girl. It is more soft compare to spectra.. The price not that expensive too😉

my wife and sil used medela swing, recommended by a fren, she said medela r soft n gentle compare with others. My wife used mid, any above mid she said painful. my wife and sil never try others so cant compare. My brother bought usb cables so that his wife can carry it mobile and charge with power bank. If u bought medela swing, they didnt provide the cable.

IMHO varies from different individual.

hope this help

I had 2, medela(hospital grade one) and avent, both double pump.

Medela is strong, noisy and I you can see it’s big.

Avent also strong, not really noisy, has several pumping option and it’s compact/small. If you are new mommy, the short-weak pumping option would help to pulling and prepare the nipple softly first before ready with strong pumping mode.

hi sir ,

i suggest that you go to pump on the go shop where your wife can test the breast pump. dont waste your money on pricy breast pump like medela coz there is cheaper one that can give you better one if you looking for double pump

my wife is using cimilere and its good

Buying madela is stupid for the high price. Lacte Duet is better with dual pump.

I've asked around and my contacts said Medela is best and soft, but pricey. I plan to breastfeed until my baby 13 months or something if possible.

In fact it's recommended to breastfeed at least 1 year ?

hehe

Some families start feeding solid food from 6 months old onwards I wonder why. I always thought mummy's nen nen is the best. Longer the better. And baby don't have to drink water when drinking breast milk, true? Unless to clean mouth then ok to drink a bit of water

Your contact is wrong because they never tried lacte duet. It it also soft.

Nen nen Start to have lower nutrition from after one year. Feeding solid food at 6months is training for eating. Baby no need to drink water if breastmilk. In fact, when they too young, drink water is harmful because baby will not drink breastmilk after drink water.
