Well, i try to search bout this thread or similiar, but i cant any (or maybe i miss it) so i decide to start this thread.

Curious, neone here are really into animation? (not anime, animation include cartoon n anime as well) Like the style, animation wise, background, unique animation style. Ameteur experimental animation, either its English, French, Japanese, or even Malay, its short, commercial or non-commercial, short mostly, almost held no meanin or deep meanin (mind twister etc.), often with loose but really good animation, kinda like MTV or channel V commercial, animator portfolio. Few example but some not really, but kinda fit into this category (i might be wrong, only presume here).

Here some animation studio that really involve in those type of animation.

-Production IG
-Gainax
-Ghibli

I got reason of startin this n there is some reason of why im kinda obsessed bout those for i am did study animation a bit (very little), hangout with fellow animator n do know a lil thing bout animation like shot by 1 etc.
so neone who does watch those type of animation, pls share with, i know its hard to find those stuff, just wanted to find some people who are into it n share around among each other.

Have you seen "The Diary of Tortov Roddle" ?

The japanese name is Aru Tabibito no Nikki, runtime 16 min combined from 6 mini ep. Very unique style / story.

It's a ROBOT production. ROBOT usually produce live action (boxoffice) movie like Bayside Shakedown, Space Traveller, Negotiator & Summer Time Machine Blues (gotta love them all!)

Meaningless? Got anime which are meaningless one meh?

i did watch The Diary of Tortov Roddle. Its nice. I got most JR fansub stuff, since most of thier project involve something familiar.

Well, meaningless mostly are demo reel animation, in other word, most of the time it doesnt have any story, just a experimental on animating. Try search n watch Digital Juice, it will give u slight idea bout it. I did watch Ergo Proxy, but BLAME!, not yet. I know the artist, n i read some of short story by him, it seem ok.

BLAME! wasn't made into animation, was it? I've read the manga and like Tsutomu Nihei's style a lot.

U can forget bout the BLame animation. It is too experinmental & still images alot.. Dun haf tos extensive fighting sequence to enjoy from Manga.
No matter how, Blame! comic lives in my heart until my last day.

At least u can see the manga wif colors..haha..

I love Otomo's Memories.. His animation work is always great & extremely Creative. The rest u guys mentioned.. Dun haf any idea.

Hold on, years ago i watched a Japanese animation story is a guy above his bold head will grow a cherry tree. He keep cutting off. But the trees will grow back. Then he gave up & eat the cherry everyday. The ending is pretty sad. It was Oscar nominee.

I love Dead Leaves, not quite unique or rare but FAST & damn FURIOUS!

Well, i did do my part searchin for em. its kinda random, but sometime 4Chan does help. btw, check thier /t/ for Amazing Nuts by Studio 4C. Nice animation. I heard its a music video cum demo reel. they still havent decide to make em into series yet. Global Astroliner seem cool in term of story n madness (Dead Leaves similiarity detected) n also Kungfu Lover for animation n effect. I got animator fren (local animator), who sometime supply me with some non-japanese animation.

Check Amazing Nuts, Global Astroliner. It seem to have some similiarity with Dead Leaves. Bout an ape, sent to earth (where every bad egg scum live) to retrieve artificial human idol. Though its still kinda like promo n undecided whether they will goin to make the series or not yet.

I think it can. since its 1 eps anime. I watched it n i like it very much.
