QUOTE(averagehumanbeing @ Apr 3 2016, 10:40 PM) have you applied to Texas A&M? their acceptance rate is higher than UT Austin.well in exchange.. you know la.. Texas A&M is ranked lower than UT Austin. I might consider sitting for SAT next year after STPM. Not much malaysian want to go to US for their studies. I'm not sure why. Try to apply for UCLA and Berkeley, they are one of the best "Public Ivy League". Actually I don't think Public universities are very generous in giving scholarships to international students. Ivy league? They are damn generous on scholarships for international students, you should check that out. |

QUOTE(averagehumanbeing @ Apr 3 2016, 11:37 PM) I didn't apply to A&M because their advisers were shitty(late replies, disconnecting from the live chat as soon as you ask them a question their not familiar with, etc). You should've studied Pre-U then sit for SAT. SAT does guarantee you in applying to Ivy Leagues and US Public Universities. ADP limits your choice btw. If I'm not mistaken, some ivy league universities require you to sit for another test isn't it?I didn't take any SAT because I was in the ADP at a private college. Contrary to popular beliefs, certain ivy leagues do accept coursework from our private colleges, although the credits transferable are very limited, so I had to pick my courses very carefully based on my seniors' experience. iinm, Malaysian students used to take up a large percentage of the international students in the US. I think many Malaysians don't plan to go to the States now is due to the exchange rates, but hey, it's improving so who knows? It's very near impossible to secure scholarships for an international student studying in the US, especially in public schools, and the out of state tuition is much more expensive, about 3-4 times of the in-state tuition. I doubt my chances of entering a private ivy league. I only applied to Austin because of its ranking and also my seniors who managed to get into the school. Exchange rate is utter bullshit. I still see Malaysian flocking to UK. Pounds > USD exchange rate. You should refer to MACEE. Maybe they will be able to assist you. |

QUOTE(averagehumanbeing @ Apr 4 2016, 09:16 AM) Iinm, SAT is only required for freshmen entry, no? If you went to an ADP, you'll be transferring as a international transfer. Yes, even-though very limited ivy-league schools accept the coursework from ADPs, you can actually transfer to nearly every public / private school in the US. I'm not sure about the "private" ivy league requiring an entrance exam, but none of my seniors who when to UT told me about any entrance exams so I believe there is none in public unis. There are no entrance exams for almost all universities in the us, public and private. But back on topic, i think most notification for admission for freshman classes are out already. Is there a different date for transfer students?Oh well, the thing is, most Malaysian students who chose to further their studies overseas are probably enrolling to mid-tier, mid-cost universities in order to save costs, such as those western universities(Utah, Idaho, etc), or cheaper state schools such as San Jose State Uni, Fresno, etc. There are still many who flocked to the US / UK, but the numbers have dropped, and some might have chosen cheaper alternatives instead of their main option. |

QUOTE(averagehumanbeing @ Apr 2 2016, 08:15 PM) This thread is for anyone who have applied to an oversea(or local) Uni and awaiting their admission decision. You can post your questions and share your anxiety here Hello, nice to meet you! Anyone applied to UT Austin? Have you got your decision? Please share here Or just come and wait together. Mine has been like this for a month. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Someone told me that the longer it is "in review" the higher chance I will get in because the admission committee are REALLY considering my application, there are already some who have been rejected Currently waiting for Singapore uni admissions, which is taking forever!! feeling so anxious Besides that, waiting for bank negara and khazanah scholarship outcomes too.. All the best!! And yup, my seniors always tell me 'no news is good news', in the sense that as long as you aren't rejected means you stand a chance~ This post has been edited by Kcdw96: Apr 4 2016, 11:02 PM |
