hmm so far my office dell PC on win 8 license has not failed, but we are on win 7 still, not sure how it works for win 8 and win 10. there is no license key on the PC casing, they said already burned in the bios chip.

but during pre win 8/10 time, after swapping mobo, there is not need for reactivation, everything just works fine, and you can always use the CD from other DELL machine to reformat/rebuild your dell pc/laptop, no activation required. hope thing doesn't changed in win 8/10.

I think since you just changed the mobo, just call them again, normally the parts they sent over for warranty fix are refurbished items, it could be another faulty parts, if not mistaken the part changed after warranty period carries 1 month or 3 months warranty.
