No, it's nothing like that at all.
It's the same with most of the mobile games out there with stamina and special currency which is hard to get and can buy with real money to enhance gaming experience.
New players will be given basic digimons such as wargreymon or metalgarurumon.
You need elemental fuel for every single phase of digivolving and mega fragments to digivolve into megas.
you need time to actually grind out these fuel and fragments to make the powerful digimons that you want.
There will be events almost every week to have a try at those fragments for powerful digimons but will be harder if you do not want to spend with the special currency(digistones)
the only thing similar is the digital island imho.

If you love digimons and have lots of time and maybe money this game is for you.
A word of warning, this game is really really grindy
but dont take my words for it, have a try first.

To all Digimon Links players here, I had created a Whatsapp group chat recently for the Dynasmon event.

The result we achieved is very good, thus I'm thinking to add more members to help those players in need for future events.
