Maxis provides the lousiest 3G service at my place in Pasir Putih, Ipoh.
During the day, all I could get is 56k like speeds even with HSDPA.This is even with a 7.2mbps enabled 3G modem! Lousy Maxis. Sorry to offend you Maxis promoters. I am honest in telling you. Until I get to see 14.4mbps HSPA at my area. Maxis is one of the lousiest mobile telco together with Celcom over here at Pasir Putih, Ipoh. |

QUOTE(fruitie @ Sep 11 2010, 02:34 AM) Can't stand the extreme slow surfing speed, called up Maxis but since the guy attended to me seems knowledgeable and polite, I spoke to him politely. Don't buy into that Maxis consultant sweet talk girl.He said there will be an HSDPA hardware upgrade on 13th Sept in Port Dickson, it shouldn't have started facing outage now. So he advised me to use EDGE connection to see if it helps on my surfing speed until the upgrade takes place. Well, two more days only and I'll be back to PJ, according to him PJ has no problem. Not sure how true is that. I hope what he said is accurate. Nevertheless, I'm using EDGE now and it really helps a lot! Phew. Anyway, the hardware upgrade might be the reason but I believe the festive season is the main cause. When only this problem be rectified? They have been promising to upgrade Ipoh's network too for centuries and till today I'm still getting 56k speeds with my HSDPA connection during day. Some people are just good at convincing with empty promises. |

No, I replied to this thread because the same familiar words were heard from one of their consultants early last year. I had since terminated my Maxis postpaid line.

QUOTE(Prevail @ Dec 13 2010, 07:46 PM) Maxis 3G or another name for it which is Maxis Mobile Internet uses the APN unet. How different it is compared to Maxis WBB?MAxis WBB uses the APN maxisbb Once you exceed your quota, you'll be charge based on PAYU model with no warning indication. That's how Maxis sucks your money like tap water before you know it. Old subscribers who retain their discontinued unlimited data plan get to continue paying RM99 for 6GB quota for this plan. It' part of maintaining their loyalty. |

It's very dangerous then to continue exceeding the 6GB quota which they've put up on their FAQ upfront.
They could kick in the policy anytime and once you've exceeded it they could start charging PAYU without any legal issues. It's clearly stated in their FAQ for their mobile internet for the discontinued Unlimited RM99 plan. |
