Hey guys, mind to clarify something for me?

Firstly, is it possible to use the SIM card in the wireless BB modem?

Secondly, can somebody please post their speed from here?

http://bandwidthmeter.maxis.com.my

Or a speedtest?

Thirdly, what are your thoughts on this? Better in terms of speed than the WBB? Possible or not? And is the speed constant?

that question has been answered numerass time.

NO.

you can't put use 3G sim into your WBB modem.

nay.

maxis should carefully studied their multisim plan. it's being abused.

Sorry for the repetitiveness, I guess. Loading this page already takes alot of time...

Also, if you can't put 3g sim into WBB modem then how else other than using phone as modem can we connect to internet with it?

i just said no. if you want to go ahead and try, be my guest.

Okay then, will do. Anyway, I never said I wanted to try.

What are your comments about the speed anyway?

Yes. I am using Maxis3G with the WBB ZTE MF600 Modem smile.gif But cannot work sims from other Telco.

Speedtest results - arranged from highest speed to lowest =

Speedtest #1: Something wrong with the test...doesn't make sense..even I don't believe this!
user posted image

Speedtest #2: Now this is more realistic. I get this speed when I download from RS.
user posted image

Speedtest #3: Worst come to worst, you'll get this speed...
user posted image

Speed...more or less the same. The big difference is that Maxis3G has no FUP..meaning no throttling. But you have to pay a little extra plus you'll have to buy your own HSDPA modem....

For the usual downloads Maxis3G is ok but for online gaming or if you heavily upload via FTP...M3G is not a feasible option since the upload speed is low.

Oh. You're using the multisim 1 line one right? Wow, I think I should change after the next month, when my 1 year contract expires... notworthy.gif thanks mates...

Your ZTE MF600 modem is the 2nd batch right? I know the first batch is an unlocked modem that can be use with any telco but the second batch can only use with Maxis  hmm.gif I also pening  rclxub.gif

Btw, I'm using the 2nd batch one...

Wow...so fast...you use Power Plan arr?

Btw, P2P now cannot already....last time can. But there is a way around....get a VPN, Socks5 Proxy or do SSH Tunneling to bypass the restriction.

Currently, I'm SSH Tunneling to a server in the US to listen to Pandora smile.gif

Oh. Actually I don't use P2P much, I get my share of ______ through DDL, that's why I like Maxis.

Yup, should be. RM8x with postpaid, I think.

@digilife:

Just what I needed to clear my doubts of changing from WBB to 3G. Thanks a heap man.

Just have to wait less than a month more and I can happily swap.

By the way, any ZTE B932 users here?

Just a tip to those who lag and dc during 12am-6am period:

Maxis opens all ports at this time, so there are lots of torrenters who would leave torrenting on and thus slow down the internet.

Solution? Use ur internet at some other time from these.

It's not true. I'm using my phone as modem and the signal and coverage is better. And disconnection is not that frequent too.
Phone: N5800 xpress music
Modem: Zte MF622
*
No wonder lah. The ZTE MF622 is obsolete already bro. The newest modem that we're using is the ZTE B932.

I thought my connection was crappy too until I saw the B932 in Maxis Centre, they said they could change my old MF622 with a new B932, and here I am now enjoying rare disconnections. nod.gif

You mean this modem?

Well, it's worth RM300 and I guess it's the best modem out there.
*
Oops. My mistake, the obsolete model is the ZTE MF600 blush.gif

Never seen this MF622 before...

QUOTE(ycl90 @ Aug 8 2009, 12:18 PM)
I faced frequent disconnection and and data spike(suddenly no data transfer). But this is easily solved by reconnecting. I think this is maxis's problem, not the modem. As my other modem faces this too.

I'm using k3565, e160, mf600
*
I get that too, but not as frequent. Usually from 8-9pm onwards till 12am+ (both weekdays and weekends) I'll start suffering from that.

Same here, this fluctuation is even worse than earthquake... doh.gif

Haven't been getting 'normal' speeds recently and by normal = 100kB/s+. I might be un-thankful, but now it's dropped to an average to 20kB/s everyday.... I'm not happy. Barely able to load pages recently too.

Same here. Can't even do my assignments. Kinda pissed at Maxis for this. mad.gif have to wake up early in the morning, like 5am+ just to get good speed. During that time period sometimes can't even load a page...
