Sorry - question: How is Maxis 3G different from Maxis WIreless Broadband? Both use HSDPA/3G as far as technology is concerned, yes? I'm confused.

Maybe you should read the thread instead of asking it again smile.gif The answer lies in this thread itself

I would have done that if the thread wasn't 45 pages long. A simple explanation to those who can afford thew few minutes to type is appreciated.

Hiyoh why so mean one? Don't have anything nice to say simply don't say anything la. If Maxis' website was so straightforward I'd never bother asking in the first place.

I go to Maxis Broadband there's only wireless, wired and voice2go. Piqued my interest because there are two seemingly different services on one band (3G).

Tanya pun tak boleh?

7.2Mbps?  rclxub.gif
Not yet available in Malaysia.

Maxis HSDPA is 3.6Mbps only.

Some areas have already. I tried Maxis Prepaid BB in JB and got close to 5Mbps...

Is there a limit/cap to speed offered through Maxis HS 3G?

Because I tested two computers with two connections, both using Maxis E1762, same location, but one on Maxis HS 3G and the other the ordinary Maxis BB. The speed test results:

Maxis HS 3G:

Maxis BB:

Tested both a couple of times, with consistent results.

btw HS 3G can use APN = maxisbb also.. brows.gif

already tried and faster.. laugh.gif

you can get IP 113 when using unet only..

Tried already APN=maxisbb. I still get 113 IP and speed no more than 2Mbps...

your router is HSPA. which means HSDPA & HSUPA.

your modem is just HSDPA....

your iPhone is also just HSDPA.

hence the diff in upload speed. but then again, currently in Msia, only DiGi has HSPA network. Maxis and Celcom still HSDPA.

Hence good download speed and upload speed...

Correction: Only Celcom and U Mobile do not have HSPA. Maxis, in fact, has already implemented HSPA in a growing number of places.

This is what I got in JB, and this ain't burst speed. It was consistent:

I'm facing this problem. ANyone experiencing this?

QUOTE(9M-MAS @ May 30 2010, 11:44 PM)
I have two E1762s, lets call them modem A and modem B. Both are ex-Maxis, modem A was bought with voice features unlocked, but modem B retains Maxis dashboard, though unlocked and free to be used with any sim.

I have been using modem A all this while, and decided to swap them with my brother who is using modem B in Singapore. Reason being voice-supported E1762s will not work with 3G wireless routers, which I intend to get shortly.

Did the swap today, and my brother took modem A down to Singapore. I am now using modem B.

I notice something with modem B which I have no recollection happening with modem A.

Everytime I upload something (facebook, imageshack etc.) downloads go dramatically slow. Radio streaming starts buffering like crazy.

Updated the firmware and dashboard successfully, to no effect. sad.gif

Any ideas? ANyone else experincing this?

I tried with a third modem (also an E1762), same problem sad.gif

I finally got HSPA where I am. Bliss!

But I notice download still stops if I upload something. Annoying.

Yeah, noticed this too.
Faced with slow surfing and received very low download packet when I was uploading my photos...

Relieved to know I'm not the only one. Are you using the E1762?

today maxis is very erratic

one moment it can stream at 2.5MBps then the next moment it stays stagnant, not "moving" at all

anyone face this problem

btw, i am in Seremban now
*
Me too, but not just today. While the speed is high, I notice the 'stagnance'. Then it resumes. Then it stalls again. Like data is being transferred in intermittent chunks.

Plus, I notice that I get disconnected quite frequent nowadays, even when not idling and the signal is full. When I reconnect, sometimes no data flows in and all website requests show 'looking up (hostname)'. Have to disconnect and try again.

Very, very annoying as my downloads are ruined.

Sentul & Cheras speeds dropping below 1Mbps lately. Lots of dropped packets too (i.e. page stalls while loading)

Added on December 30, 2010, 12:55 pmReally, really bad right now. Location Sentul Park (near KLPAC), with full HSPA signal. vmad.gif vmad.gif mad.gif

How do you all get super high speeds? Mine has been going down the cliff since last week - reminiscent of Celcom (Less than 300Kbps)! Full HSPA signal, and using E1762 as well. sad.gif
