Seems to have recovered this evening....earlier it was so slow akin to dialup, no pages would load. I had to use my U Mobile BB to post that earlier remark!

Hi all Sifus, I am changing my USB E1762, so am thinking to go for 21Mbps Huawei UMG1831, or Sierra 306/308.

Those usb modem support up to 21Mbps HSPA+, do you think I am over kill by buying those modem for Maxis 3G usage?
*
I think no if your plan is unlimited. biggrin.gif
From my experience Sierra is better, but maybe because I never use Huawei before. Unfortunately after 1year++ my sierra was malfunctioned after its firmware have been upgraded. cry.gif
Maybe I'll try Huawei UMG1831 after this. tongue.gif

I am using a Huawei 21Mbps UMG1831 now with Maxis 3G.

Guess I was wrong about my last night comment, the modem does help if there is no congestion.

My latest speedtest result in the morning.

Do your connection using Huawei UMG1831 have some lagging sometimes?
Although I got nice speed with it compare to my previous CSL U1-TF, sometimes the connection are lagging.
Btw, this is my speedtest this morning:

So far I don't see any lag in the connection, but when the area is congested, the modem tends to
switch to HSPDA - HSPA - HSPA+ frequently.

Comparing to my Huawei E1762 which I can only get maximum speed of 3Mbps at my place
during the morning, this new modem has justified its existence by giving me 5Mbps. Worth it!! rclxms.gif

Yes, it should but somehow the profile or setting for HSPA is limiting the top speed. And it depends on location too.
