for rare cases like COBOL, since people who having this kind of skill are "extinct" nowadays, if u are below 30s and your COBOL skill can complete 10-15 years senior , some company will hire you due;
1. you may serve/go longer in company 2. range of salary is different due gap of ages,working etc..example salary for Analyst COBOL in 2016 is much higher compared to 2010 I have my friend who were working as senior COBOL developer same with my age...salary is RM9,000 I have my friend who is 1 year less experiences than mine, work as COBOL support..salary is RM7,200 I have my friend who is 1 year more experiences than mine, work as Senior consultant (COBOL)...salary is RM8,000 those are BASIC salary..not includes standby or weekend/OT allowance..and those are FACT |

I have been doing COBOL for 8 years since graduate. Now no longer do that.
Not that I hate the heavy job load, it's because some managers never really appreciate their staff's effort and contribution. I enjoy my work now a lot. Better environment better colleagues and superiors, less critical system compare to bank hence less supporting jobs. Should have join here 8 years ago lol. |

I bet most of those who do SMART won't even know how to read files normally using pure COBOL...Of course, that includes me...
And yeah, SMART job pool consists of 90% of foreigners... |

But for me, when u really mastered it i will only say that specific language otherwise it just shame myself.. If earn 20k nevermind otherwise it's stupid decision even to take up that job |
