Honor 5x vs Redmi Note 3 (32GB), about the same price point.  Which one better overall?  Normal usage like photos, surfing, casual games, Waze, etc.  Thanks smile.gif

Redmi Note 3 for the extra 1gb of RAM. thumbup.gif

QUOTE(yuatyi @ Apr 9 2016, 05:07 PM)
Hi everyone! Please help me with this recommendation:

1. Brand: any brand
2. Budget: within 1K
3. Specs: 3GB ram, if possible 32GB storage, Screensize: above 5 inch, Snapdragon, Android 5.1–5.1.1 Lollipop
4. What you need in the phone: I am more concern on large storage capacity, Android version must be 5.1-5.1.1 lollipop or above it, Fingerprint/scan unlocking. Almost forgot to mention that a microSD card slot for storage expansion is a must.

Actually, I have just purchased the new Redmi Note 3 32GB Gold via Lazada and it's a verified Malaysia. But unfortunately the screen was faulty so I am now in the midst of trying to return it and get refund. That's why I was wondering if I should survey other options first before considering buying another unit of Redmi Note 3.

Thank you.

Redmi Note 3 is the cheapest phone that meets ur requirement dy. U can consider Lenovo K4 Note if u are ok with it's Mediatek processor.

U will need to top up for other options like Mi 4S, Vibe X3, Honor 7, Vibe P1 Turbo. These phones meet all ur requirements.

Thanks for your input. I have been looking at Lenovo K4 Note also. Not a bad phone just that I am not too sure about this Mediatek. Honor is another viable option.
*
Been reading that Mediatek improved a lot, but to date i dun own a single Mediatek device, so can't really judge how it performs. laugh.gif

If u have the budget, can go for Honor 7 Enhance. The camera should be better than Redmi Note 3. Redmi Note 3 low light performance is not that good imo.

Hi forumers. Need help on buying a new budget phone, since current one random restarts nowadays.
Also need to know if phones are different in Europe? I'm going there for a couple months, mostly phone not region locked or anything, right (noob in phones)?

1. Brand: doesn't really matter, as long as operating on android. But want to try other than Samsung.
2. Budget: max at RM650
3. Minimum specs: 1.2Ghz, 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage, OS at least Lollipop, 4G support, dual sim card support, micro SD support
4. What you need in the phone: not much other than the specs above. Main concern are battery life and durability though. Camera and screen quality is just a plus, not a necessity. Build preferably good one lah.

Got ah?
*
Redmi 3 pro, Lenovo K3 Note

top up for Zenfone Max, Redmi Note 3

Thanks bro. I've been looking around, so far Redmi Note 3 looks best. Xiaomi brand ok ah?
*
Redmi Note 3 the mediatek version is just nice if u dun do gaming or gps much. But if u do both, better go for the Snapdragon version, which cost a bit more.

So far my Mi3 is doing fine, plan to upgrade during year end, maybe Oneplus 3. The only draw back for my 2 year old Mi3 is the battery life is bad dy. Redmi Note 3 should have better battery life with 4000mah battery size.

Sony Xperia XA Ultra or Samsung Galaxy A7(2016)? Or maybe top up abit for galaxy A9 pro is a better choice?
Im using Xperia Z for almost 3 years, so i want a new phone that will last as long as the one im using.
I just know that XA ultra is huge and has much higher megapixels but with low mAh battery and A7 seems like a stable phone but not much different with the A5(2016) in term of price and spec (1 GB ram and size)
*
Based on ur list of XA Ultra, A7 and A9 Pro. I would top up for A9 Pro. 32gb internal, 4gb ram, newer processor SD652, huge battery too at 5000mah.

But based on the price of A9 Pro, i feel that u might as well go for the Oneplus 3, flagship processor, 6gb ram, 64gb internal, around the same price. The only thing is battery smaller capacity compared to A9 Pro.

QUOTE(drkpower @ Aug 15 2016, 04:58 PM)
Need opinion, which is better

Huawei P9,  OP3 or 2nd Note 5

Not really into camera but when i take a picture i want it to be good lol

Or any other recommendations? Around that price or lower.

My main usage is whatsapp, call, browsing, YouTube, GPS and camera
*
It's either P9 or OP3 for me. Maybe u can try to hands on for both phones first. Can go to DirectD, they have a lot of display models for diff phones. If u can live without app drawer, P9, if u wan stock android feel, OP3. Plus I think Op3 GPS will perform better than P9. Snapdragon processor generally have gud GPS chip.

Other than that, can consider Mi5, LG G5 (import set), Huawei Mate 8.

May i know what u mean as "If u can live without app drawer, P9" ???
*
Huawei's launcher usually have no app drawer. Something like Iphone's UI. Every app is just displayed on the screen. There is no menu button. Similar like Xiaomi's MIUI.

But of coz to counter this, u can always install Google Now Launcher or Nova Launcher. smile.gif

typically, china brand phone will have user interface like this.

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Which is something similar to Iphone's user interface. Everytime u install an app, it will appear on ur phone's 'desktop'. U will have to group those app into folders to make ur 'desktop' look organized and clean.

While for other phone like Samsung or Oneplus' UI, everytime u install an app, the app won't appear in the 'desktop'. They have an app drawer for that.

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Those apps only appear when u tap on the bottom middle white icon.

1. Brand. : OPPO / Xiaomi / or etc
2. Budget. below RM 1200
3. Specs. : 2gb or 3gb would be good.
4. What you need in the phone : i need a good GPS, currently with Asus zenfon5, has super terrible GPS...

5 Remarks :
*currently have xiaomi redmi note 3 pro and OPPO F1s(latest)..
*read oppo using Mediatek proc, not so good??
*
Can add Moto G4 Plus into ur consideration. 3gb ram, 32gb internal, dual sim, microsd expansion. DirectD now selling at RM1199.

If u want good GPS, go for Snapdragon SoC, it's quite known for it's decent gps performance.

But at that price, the Moto G4 Plus is AP set, Vivo V3Max selling at the same price is better with SD652 SoC, and is original set.  G4 Plus only with SD617 SoC, with much inferior Adreno 405 graphic chip.
*
Yea. Most of the phone i use before are import sets, so my experience with them is quite ok.

But G4 Plus gives stock android experience. Vivo's UI is without app drawer. So depends on user on wad type of UI they like too. smile.gif

Hi

Brand : Not xiaomi if can (My Mi3 always face gps problem, my Mi5 just died after used lesss than 1 year)
Heard bad reviews about Huawei. What'd you guys think about Oppo?
Budget : 1k +-
Spec :  can play latest games with no hassle
Other : -

Thanks very much in advance.
*
with your budget, can target Snapdragon 625 devices. Handles new game quite well. Plus buying a phone on 2nd half of 2017, better be at least 4gb ram and 32gb internal. So i would recommend

Lenovo P2 RM1299
Moto G5 Plus RM1299
Zenfone 3 ZE552KL RM1499

Oppo is overpriced imo. If u dont mind to try another Xiaomi, can go for Redmi Note 4.

Nokia 3 - RM599. weakest specs. But fulfill ur requirement of 2gb ram. Mediatek processor.

Redmi 4X - RM679. 3gb ram, 32gb internal, 4100mah battery, has microsd expansion. Stick a tempered glass SP. Good to go.

Nokia 5 - RM799. 2gb ram, 16gb internal, has microsd expansion, 3000mah battery.

If can top up, Redmi Note 4 (4gb ram / 64gb internal) - RM 949. <- Best bang for buck for under phones under 1k.

But I would go for Redmi 4X. Buying a phone in 2017, ur RAM should at the very least has 3gb of RAM, and also i would recommend Snapdragon processor. Including Nokia coz of it's sturdiness. laugh.gif

Based on ur budget, best bang for buck is Redmi 4A already. Official warranty from Xiaomi Malaysia.

QUOTE(Tiaso @ Jul 3 2017, 09:29 PM)
haha test lenovo before, sucks  sweat.gif

moto g5, quite skeptical about it.

Zenfone, heard bad review from my friend.

I guess best budget phone i can go for is RN4 for now T_T thought wanted to wait for RN5 that might out at Aug 2017 but it's mediatek first for sure.
*
U can head to those phone's thread to check it out. I've been reading good review from Lenovo P2. Very decent phone for that price. Only thing is camera might not be as good. But very good battery life due to it's 5000mah battery.

I'm using the G5 plus. Not bad actually. Depends on ur expectation. smile.gif

Just head to any DirectD. Pretty sure they have demo unit for all these models. C u prefer which interface, which camera. brows.gif

Tiaso and briantwj, thanks for the great reviews / suggestions. You people are awesome.

Was referring to this.

Redmi 4X

In terms of processor, I would go for Snapdragon. Generally less laggy. Mediatek have quite a bad reputation imo. Plus Snapdragon have this Quick Charge technology.

Nokia is good in terms of durability. But the 2gb RAM might come back and haunt u say early next year. With all those higher RAM phones, apps will utilize more of it I'm sure. So better get a 3gb RAM phone these days.

Pretty sure no.6 Redmi Note 4X is an import set. Xiaomi Malaysia don't sell them officially here. I would go for that if u are ok with shop warranty. biggrin.gif
