Too high budget for me unfortunately. Right now looking at AP Mi5 for RM1499 (directd) or maybe AP LG G4.

Noted on AP, I'm aware the issues, but the price savings really quite significant. That plus the fact I do have backup older phones available for downtime if need to send for 2 week+ warranty claim means am prepared to face that consequence.

Only disadvantage is battery life not too good. For parents who are low usage and don't game it's a good phone.

Sorry I meant Mi 5 Prime (Xiaomi models quite confusing). Can be found for just <RM1.1k, so still close to the RM1k budget, and camera should be quite a bit better than Redmi Note 4?

EDIT: Even can find AP Mi 5 phones for below RM1k.

A bit beyond your budget is Lenovo K5 note. Can be found on Lazada, if there's any good vouchers (or use shopback) can bring to just about RM500 prince.

Just got a Mi Max 128GB/4GB (AP) for about that price on Lazada. Specs will blow any of the above out of the water (except camera, if that's important go for Note, but secondhand you dunno how long it'll last).
