Seems this forum is not very active recently.
2016 high end Android smartphone to look for:

1. Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge
2. LG G5
3. HTC Upcoming One M10?
4. Xiaomi Mi5

Rumor for Oneplus 3, Sony Xperia Z6, high end phone from lower tier like OPPO Find 9, from ZTE Axon, Lenovo, Meizu. Also from Motorola, Huawei and ASUS Zenfone series. Quite from Vivo, no new phone announce, or less known Acer smartphone, Alcatel hitting Malaysia market with better entry phone?. Elephone? Cheap knock off brand Leagoo? And poor lineup from Ninetology.

The Android smartphone has been jam packed with various brand to choose from.
Then, more recent focus on Android Wear, Android smartwatch platform.

hmm i not really chasing those phones and specs dy.. btw

design : HTC
overall : S7 Edge smile.gif

-2 cents-

Haha, because you have owned some best smartphone before, and not so excited for new spec anymore.
But, it is still interesting for new phone release, new user, new phone for replacing the old phone or broken phone, at least Android camp do try coming out with very latest spec for every year, and new entry level phone, with more respectable spec and more affordable price to match.

Wife's phone just died =(

1. Brand. Any
2. Budget (<1.3k)
3. Specs. 32GB storage, screen size <5.5inch
4. As good camera as possible. Loud speaker.

Looking at Redmi Note 3 (the snapdragon one), any other options?
*
Huawei Honor 7? Huawei G8? Huawei Honor 5X?
ASUS Zenfone 2?
Oneplus X?

There is also super long battery life Lenovo P1, and Lenovo K4 Note, all with metal casing, dual front speaker, fingerprint.

Still, the Redmi Note 3 is the best buy.

how much is it? i check with directd they seem didnt carry padfone

i check few of the snapdragon u mention.. all seem higher rm800 right?
*
Dunno if DirectD got carry or not la, but their Lelong.com.my selling page is still there.

http://www.lelong.com.my/asus-padfone-s-pl...7-01-Sale-I.htm

You can also check on Lelong.com.my for other seller for this phone.

Another contender is the Xiaomi Mi4 (not Mi4i). But now should also limited to AP set only.

Others will over RM1K price, Oneplus X at RM1288, or Oneplus One, RM1399.
Or if you willing top up, Oneplus Two at RM1788.

will redmi note 3 pro better than my current lg g2?

snapdragon 650 vs snapdragon 800 which one faster?
camera which one better?
pls help....

i just want no lag and good camera... my lg g2 started to lag
*
Of course Snapdragon 650 is a bit faster, it should close to Snapdragon 805 performance.

So, it will guarantee no lag, but no better camera than LG G2.
You should also take note it's screen quality also won't as good as LG G2.
But other wise, with finger print scanner, 32GB, 3GB RAM, Micro SD card slot, this Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, Snapdragon version is another high end phone in budget price category.

In your opinion how good is it compared too as us zenfone 2?
*
ASUS Zenfone 2 (Intel processor) has a better screen and much louder and clear speaker.

But RN3 has fingerprint, metal build, much bigger battery, capacitive key that light up, better camera, and a much powerful processor.

Then, Zenfone 2 using Intel processor, which has some compatibility issue on some apps, Snapdragon processor has no such issue, due to much wider adoption in smartphone market.

Looks like rn3 ticks more requirements that's important for me.

I'm surprised that sd650 is better than Intel in zenfone 2. So this means in normal use rn3 will be non laggy at all compared to zenfone2 even though zenfone got 4gb ram?

Searchingvthrough lelongvthe non removable battery for zenfone2 is actually not expensive if you can diy. So good if you want to usr longer term.
*
I can tell is, both Zenfone 2 with Intel 3580, Redmi Note 2 with Mediatek Helio X10, and Redmi Note 3 with Snapdragon 650 are fast enough until no lag is easily noticeable.
Both Zenfone 2, 2GB RAM and 4GB RAM are as fast, just that 4GB RAM version no need reload apps that already opened, good on heavy multitasking, but doesn't make it faster. 2GB RAM on RN2 and RN3 already can make sure the phone don't lag.

But, those SOC actually differ in graphic chip performance. Redmi Note 2 using PowerVR 6200, Zenfone 2 using PowerVR 6430, Redmi Note 3 using Adreno 510.

So, strongest point of Snapdragon 650 is it's Adreno 510, which outperform those PowerVR graphic, nearly on par with Adreno 418, used on Snapdragon 808.

Of course, it can't beat Snapdragon 810 and 820 with far more superior performance, but already adequate for high end usage, that nearly on par with Snapdragon 808.
Phone will run smooth in most situation, unless cause by the Android skin implementation by different manufacturer.

So dont think its time for an upgrade yet?

Any phone with decent camera (at least as good as a g2) and as fast as redmi note 3 with pricing under 1k?
*
Unfortunately, mid range and low range phone may has capable processor, but almost left out with lousy camera.
So, only flagship phone are equipped with much more capable camera.
RN2 camera are so so only, so I guess RN3 will be the same.

Or, wait for online review on the camera performance.
So far, only high end Samsung, LG, Sony, HTC, Xiaomi phone promise more superior camera.

i found something regarding its camera... seems redmi note 3 pro camera is better than iphone 6!!!!

though it loose to iphone 6s but it wins iphone 6!!! so it might win lg g2 as well?
*
Hmm, just notice the camera sensor is different from RN2.
If really winning iPhone 6, than it is more than capable.

Hi guys, I ask before in the recommended format. but seems my question not very popular.
So what's the best phone around the flexible price bracket of asus zenfone 2, redmi note 3 snapdragon, samsung j5/j7, huawei honor 5x, and other phone that have good camera and excellent selfie camera?

You can list the phone and I will do the research.
*
Haha, it is not because of your question not popular, but now very few forumer active at this thread already.
What you listed out indeed are some the phone worth considering at this price bracket.

Redmi Note 3 Snapdragon will be the most worth to buy.

Haha I saw some YouTube comparison between rn3  ad and j7. Looks like j7 speed it's around rn3 around normal task.  Sometimes faster than rn3. And looks like samsung got better camera and esoecially video.  Though only comes with 1.5gb ram and 16gb.

Asus zenfone selfie worth considering?
*
Those comparison on Youtube only showing the apps launching speed, but not showing the apps actual usage like scrolling down the option, navigation and usage speed. So, seems pointless to do such comparison.
Lag normally happen on long usage, when many apps being opened, turn on mobile network, GPS, load many browser page at once, switch between apps.

Camera is subjective, some prefer the over expose in low light, some prefer the normal expose picture, it depend on taste. You got to zoom in those image to see if detail is being captured or just blurred detail being capture. So, I can't comment on this, especially those low light image, need to zoom in to check the noise level, rather than checking the brightness only.

Zenfone Selfie will be same spec with J7, but with bigger storage and RAM, but many say their camera quality are not good, even the front selfie camera are just average.

Normal usage wise, RN3,J7, Zenfone Selfie will be the same, no lag, fast.
But heavy usage and gaming wise, RN3 will be more superior than those, with faster processor, and better graphic chip.

1. Brand: Any, as long ori set and not AP.
2. Budget: Below RM 1000
3. Specs: Nothing in particular, decent all rounder.
4. What you need in the phone (Good camera/good sound quality/durable):
Nothing in specific, decent all rounder.

Thanks!  thumbup.gif  notworthy.gif

Edit: Btw, why is this topic no longer pinned?  tongue.gif
*
Still recommending best is Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro, Snapdragon for the true performer and all rounder.
This is the latest model that officially sold in Malaysia.

That's the 3GB RAM one right? Was thinking about that as well. Should be suitable for my parents. Thanks for the recommendation!  notworthy.gif
*
Recommend the 3GB RAM one, as it also add up to 32GB internal storage, price just different RM100.
Both model comes with 4000mah battery, fingerprint reader, Micro SD slot, metal casing, and 16MP camera.
Only thing it cannot do is the non-removable battery.

1. Brand.: (Not Samsung, Lenovo, Motorola) Preferably major brand so that have better support & updates

2. Budget.: below RM3k

3. Specs.: 5.2" and below

4. What you need in the phone.: Priority on camera quality. Prefer vanilla android, but willing to compromise. Dedicated camera button would be a bonus. SD card slot needed

Please suggest something other than Xiaomi Mi5, Sony Xperia Z5
*
LG G5, 5.3", but not yet launching, or probably won't launch at Malaysia.

that's sad

is it worth to import it in?
*
Depend if you can accept AP warranty or not, which will take months for the repairing.
But AP warranty (Local Supplier Warranty) normally cover at least 2 years.
Local original warranty still the best, repairing within days, but only cover one year, but guarantee original part.

Worth or not worth, you may compare the price of the phone. Normally import set are cheaper.

PS : LG G4 actually has official sold in Malaysia, but very limited sales. Won't find it at any phone shop, unless buy at online store. Hope the LG G5 will launch in Malaysia.

Depend on you....
I think you no need sell your Oneplus X. But if you favor bigger screen, then you might interested to consider.

But there are differences among the phone you want to compare:

Too high budget for me unfortunately. Right now looking at AP Mi5 for RM1499 (directd) or maybe AP LG G4.
*
You should able to get Oneplus 2, 64GB, 4GB RAM, SD810 processor, 5.5" 1080p, less than RM1499 at GemFive online store.
Local Malaysia Bright Star warranty.

Personally don't suggest AP set, very bad AP warranty.
Many AP phone network not compatible to Malaysia FDD-LTE.
