1. Brand - Any with Google Playstore
2. Budget - <RM2k
3. Specs - most important is smooth, not really into the detailed specs, not sure if can get >60 refresh rate with this price?
4. What you need in the phone - long lasting, mainly use for work (email, teams, excel, powerpoint), video (youtube), spotify, some light gaming here and there

With that price range, possible to get flagship from 1 generation before?

EDIT: currently using huawei nova 2i, this is the 2nd time the battery bulge and cause the screen to detach, decide not to replace the battery anymore and get a new phone instead. been happy with its performance until recently when i start to feel the phone getting lag despite only having a few work apps on it.

Mi 10 RM1999 flash sales just ended yesterday.
So look for Nord/F2 Pro/X3 Superzoom

Top 4 are my personal high recommend model. the top5-8 are some other alternative but not my first choice compare to the top 4.

Hi all sifus, need a phone recommendation based on these details :

1. Brand. - Hm, not that picky about this as long as it an unlocked Malaysian set, AND Not ASUS
2. Budget. Max RM1.5k
3. Specs. 8gb RAM, 128GB ROM, USB 2.0 (prefer not have the USB C-type ports)
4. What you need in the phone :
Most important to have - can use the SD card as default storage/can format it as internal storage, 5000mAH battery, Dual SIM, Must have memory card slot (preferably dedicated), OS version doesnt matter to me

I am currently using the ASUS ZB602KL (Zenfone Max Pro M1).

Thx sifu, I actually ordered the Xiaomi Mi 10 128GB version yesterday, the RM1,999 sales ended, replaced with Merdeka promo (RM2,099 for 128GB or RM2,499 for 256GB) + free Mi Band 4.
Preorder need to wait 1 week for stocks to arrive.

256GB model ready stocks in both colours, 128GB no stocks everywhere.

I heard that MIUI has some annoying ads and stuff, looks like won't be ready to use out of the box and need some clean up? Don't really have much experience on it.

Either way, phone will be arriving within 1-2 weeks, thanks for recommendation. Out of all those you recommended I liked the Mi 10 the most.

Recommend me a fuss-free android phone, with pretty good camera (maybe on par with iPhone 11 Pro cause Im using one now),
just wanna point and shoot
Screen size similar as iPhone 11 Pro (less than 6-inch)
flat screen (i'm tired of curved screen!)
Budget:
Nothing in mind yet, please recommend any models that come into your mind/radar.
wanna see what the choices are first before making decisions.

Thank you!

Well, as someone pointed out the OP Nord would fit fuss-free, flat screen and pretty good camera - but the size would be bigger and being a midrange phone, the camera will not be on par with an iPhone 11 Pro. In terms of size and flat screen and decent camera, maybe the older Samsung S10e comes to mind, but a Samsung is a Samsung is a Samsung, if you know what I mean smile.gif

You mean OnePlus? OnePlus screen protectors are pretty difficult to find in a retail store. Have to buy online and a) hope it fits correctly and b) DIY installation laugh.gif

Yes but no local warranty support and difficult to find accessories.

Maybe wait for the Xperia 5 ii? Arriving in December, apparently.

If inclusive of curved screen, anything else you might have read around come in mind? My main concern is the damn screen protector. But i heard that all the newer Samsung phones curved screen is getting less visible. Maybe easier to find screen protectors.

i don't mind going back to Samsung. lol, i know your thoughts on them. xD

Hahaha, yeah, Samsung's curved screen has toned down somewhat but even so there is hardly a problem looking for screen protectors for Samsung or Apple phones. They are everywhere!

I'm currently using a Mate 30 Pro. The curved screen is next level!
