QUOTE(eatsleepnDIE @ Mar 23 2016, 10:40 AM) PM mod to give the seller dispute tag. I can see this is not the buyers fault. ill wait see a how it guess first. Who knows maybe the seller change/mod the hd sn before send it to the buyer... QUOTE(TamashiiHeroes @ Mar 23 2016, 11:35 AM) Ok ,so seller think its not him fault Selling an A brand and replace by an B brand without inform buyer and ask for consent is alright for seller ,LOL ![]() QUOTE(quad @ Mar 23 2016, 12:39 PM) my take here is seller fail to prove his innocence ikr, the hdd is in his hands now. last reply he insisted on returning the faulty hdd back to me. very unethical imo.any attempt to twist with change mobo, firmware etc is invalid since seller fail to show proof that the HDD is a different unit, its one & the same, & its faulty he wanted to skirt the rule & escape his obligations for a refund the faulty item has been returned to seller thus he should refund & case can be close based on seller's way of replying here, I doubt he will honor it, so TS just take it as a lesson to scrutinize seller's credibility more carefully next time even if lets say the HDD became faulty due to shock after rough handling / fall during transport; the seller is still liable & should send a working unit as replacement, otherwise refund the buyer its really up to him now. nothing much that i can do other than report here or maybe the authority if necessary ![]() |

think about this...buyer want WD but received seagate instead. Then found not working and send it back to seller. The seller accused buyer of changing the HDD parts.
Do you think buyer keep lots of HDD parts to change? Do you think so lucky that buyer suddenly have parts for seagate to change when he wanted WD in the first place? This is the kind of typical seller that I never deal with. When I sell, I said personal warranty and I mean it. Other sellers just say it for fun to sell their product and then when have problem blame all sorts of things. Look at the circumstances. Who will you believe? Buyer or seller? |

its funny that you still went to test it.
imo u should just demand a full refund on the ground that item sent is not what you have bought. you are buying a WD hdd but he sent you Seagate HDD and moreover it doesnt work. [ you dont even need to test it, just return and demand WD hdd or get a refund]. and also, for all used items, only buy if there is personal warranty, if no personal warranty, fucked up cases like this can happen of course. seller can simply send u faulty unit and disclaim all responsibilities. if seller refuses to do anything, of course nothing u can do but to warn other people against buying from him. you can post his real name, bank account, with all the details, so all potential buyers can be aware of the risk of trading with him. and you can join pc community malaysia fb group, there are many genuine used hdd sellers there. and fyi, seller is not even reputable.
all his sales thread have hardly and customer feedback and most of his threads are all edited out with no trace of actual sale / sale description after claiming "sold". so any dispute in future? u cannot find anything at all. shady seller at best. rm110 is a good price for a lesson learnt this way. |

Something does not add up. But i will debunk what is going on.
Seller says the hard disk that he got RETURNED from Buyer is ![]() But buyer shows that this is the HDD that he got and returned is ![]() Also the picture of Seller posted is 4.1GB. Clearly these isn't any 4.1GB HDD that has SATA interface. Ok Mr Seller let me tell you what happened. He did not change the board. But the HDD is defective by design. Read the link below. https://forum.hddguru.com/viewtopic.php?t=11403&start= So its a little misunderstanding. The hdd will fault if formatted with Seagate tool. What it does also upgrades the firmware. Which is beyond either Buyer or Seller control. Under this circumstances since both parties already paid postage for returns, Seller should at least compensate 50% as good will. Why? Because i do not know neither Buyer or Seller is the one that used Seagate tools to format the hdd. If you look at it chronologically, the buyer would have used seagate tool to write zeroes to the hdd before selling. Which would explain why Buyer cannot detect the hdd because Seagate tools already upgraded it to defective firmware. I won't be a part of this quarrel. But i can tell you what happened. So its now between the goodwill of the Seller and the discretion of the Buyer to agree on whats the next step. ![]() |

QUOTE(Lazarus7181 @ Mar 22 2016, 10:27 PM) I think you should know that next time before promising something, you need to make sure you have everything on your hand before proceed and do not try to salvage parts here and there which will only caused you more issues than you can handle on exceptional case. Lmao! Sorry for being off topic here. Often times, we will resort to all kind of issues and most often, we will try to minimize the cost as much as possible. You can minimize anything unless you are perfectly sure that everything is working normally but we are human, we will tend to make mistakes here and there. But what is most important is to have backup plan or maybe support. Don't gamble on your decision as it's always going to stir things up rather than help you on the long run. Since you are donating a pc, why not just delay it for a while for your sister or family first. Once you got yourself a new hard disk, then you can proceed with your good deed. This guy just got conned/accused and here you are teaching him what he should think of before making promises and how to be kind. Hahaha! Well done man. You deserve a pat on your back ![]() There is a reason why there is a second hand market and there are reasons why certain people buy from there. On a serious note, hope all is going well on your side TS. |
