QUOTE(andrekua2 @ Mar 22 2016, 10:46 PM) Since Sony waterproof with glue, probably they can't honor the warranty anymore. But I do find it weird that Samsung can't honor them as well. Why? Personally I replaced my S6e screen before and one of the item that was charged into the billing was a repair kit. According to the service advisor, it's those tapes that glued the back glass to the unibody chassis. If they clean it up properly, then reapply a new layer of the tape on the S7e chassis, theoretically they should be waterproof it. I don't think there will be different from manufacturing except this time it will be done by hand instead of robot. That tape and waterproof is totally a different things. the tape is just to assemble back the screen but it do not have waterproof function. The only explanation I can think off is they do not have proper tools to redo the whole waterproofing, after they fix but this does not mean it's not water proof it might still waterproof but there is chance of water go in. That's why to save theirself they will state to customer that after fixing no warranty for waterproofing anymore.

Pretty sure the waterproof is using glue that cannot be applied by the technician and they do not have proper equipment to test it anyway. And from my experience in electronics mfg industry. The quality is best from factory. Anything repaired outside is going to compromise the longevity of the device. I bet that the repair technician did not even wear a glove

Jerry video took the back cover apart and there's nothing that sealed it except the tape. Of course the S6e is not water proof and I'm not referring to it. I'm just saying regardless of the repair, once they open the back cover, they will change the tape. Why they can't seal it back properly? More like excuse than anything. Unless if you dropped the phone and the aluminium chassis is so badly deformed that it would compromise the water proofing.

QUOTE(alvin ong @ Mar 22 2016, 10:05 PM) If they reassemble it the same way they took it apart, I'm sure the waterproofing would still be there right? Provided they use the proper seal Probably service centre doesn't have the proper tools or skills to seal it. Maybe the assembly is done by machine in factory during production.

QUOTE(nles @ Mar 22 2016, 07:39 PM) As it's android xD where do you guys download *ahem* games or apk? If you already graduated from school or college or university. Please do support developer and buy their apps/games. That is the reason most popular developer not willing to launch their games in Android or rather late.

Those are not double sided tape. Those adhesive need special material to cure for instance UV light etc. And how are they going to test the water proof? Repair is easily. Testing and debug is the hard part.
