Apple's advantage is they have a premium brand image regardless of what folks here think.

And since the phone market is saturated to bursting point, this SE thing is meant to enable them to target new customers that's traditionally out of reach for them with their other models especially in developing markets who would otherwise buy a xiaomi etc.

Think of it as what the 1 series and A class do for the German carmakers.
