Same goes to branded apparels and stuffs. A plain Ralph Lauren Polo could go up to hundreds but people still buy and the material used to make that tee is not exclusive or super highly tech'd.

=) Apple is like all other companies out there. Their sole existence is to earn our monies for their shareholders so of course they will priced their devices at the highest point where consumers are still willing to buy. So, it isn't right to actually blame Apple for being greedy, they are just doing what they do. In fact, the demographic to be blamed is actually the consumers, if only Apple see a drastic drop in their iPhone sales because of their current pricing bracket then they'll do something about it. They don't fix what's not broken.

You are right though, Malaysian currency went to hell few months back and although it started to brighten up these few weeks but it will take a rather long time to make sure things go back to where they were PROVIDED that our beloved government don't perform "miracles" again.

if you are gauging the sales of the SE with the likes of 5 or 6 then of course the hype will not be as strong simply because the world has seen the SE before. it isn't "new" but a phone in its series, it is selling well. practically no one wants "old things". take this for comparison instead, if you put a 2016 engine into a 2010 Honda City's engine bay and then sell it in 2016, what do you get?

I remembered reading an article that Apple is actually releasing the SE to target "developing countries only" rather than an entire world at large which accounts for the limited stock availability worldwide. It's not because there are no demands for it, it's just that Apple is limiting supplies because Apple does not want to end up with surplus stocks in the market. We all still need to know, Apple is still a company targeting niche demographics. If there are too much surplus in the market, Apple will suffer. Apple needs to be "exclusive" and its customers need to feel that.

The SE is also "considered" as a replacement model for the failed iPhone5c and despite what Apple said, we know the 5C was aimed at which category of users. I also believed that the SE will be the final 4" iPhone for Apple and will be completely phased out once Apple decided that it has run its course.

Whether Steve Jobs likes it or not, 4" smartphones will not have its place in the future with the constant development in video technologies. No one wants to view 4k video on a 4" IPS panel.

Best option is to purchase it via the Apple online store.

actually, there are more than just "megapixels" if you are looking to upgrade your phone's camera and let me tell you this, if your sole purpose into buying the SE is because you wanted the 12MP camera then scrap it. It's not going to worth your money.

honestly, a bump from 8MP to 12MP isn't going to make a huge difference in respect of picture quality if you are only viewing it through the 4" screen. the sensors and aperture remains the same so technically, you're investing RM2.4k for just an increase of 4 points in MPS. it averages about RM600.00 per per MPs

the reason why Apple releases the SE is because they wanted to bring their latest into the form factor of what the people considered as their favorite iPhone design of all time, in a bid to secure back their lost market shares in the smartphone industry. It's not a new iPhone.

so, if you pay no heed to any other features of the SE then my advice is, save the money.

so far, i've only heard of one and that is the offer from Malaysia's most expensive and snobbish telco, Maxis.
