Well, based on your planned usage (whatsapp, wechat, messenger, FB, and other social apps, a 1gb size game, no music) then I would say yes, 16GB is sufficient.

Well I don't own a SE so I'll let someone else fill you in on the performance before and after iOS 10. I have a 6S Plus and I would say that my phone feels faster after the OS update. Can't really comment on battery life just yet coz I only updated last night but so far, nothing abnormal.

Updating via iTunes is the safest bet but you'll need double the capacity, E.g. To update OTA I needed 1.2GB but if I do it via iTunes I would need 2.45GB.

Well after few days, SE do improve with IOS10. I'm not sure about others, but for me battery improving.
And once I get use to IOS10, there's also improve in performance overall.
For now, any way to update is fine. No more brick.

Nah, I wouldn't use the word "stupid" because phone preferences is a subjective matter; and the best choice of phone will always be the one that you and you alone, are most comfortable with! In fact, personally, I think the phone itself is worth getting but the price drop made it even more worth it! 

I've already collected mine from Machines @ Sunway Pyramid, but I haven't unboxed it just yet, pending phone case selection. I saw this Power Support Air Jacket case and immediately, liked it a lot but it's only designed for the iPhone 6s/6s Plus model. Anyone has suggestion on something similar?

p/s: I can't wait to upgrade form my iPhone 5 to the iPhone SE! ... and oh yea, I managed to get the Space Grey 64GB! 

You're right about the front part of Space Grey but Silver is pretty cool looking too. In fact, it was gonna be my choice if ever the staff were to tell me that the Space Grey model is sold out! I knew if I missed this round, I wouldn't have a 2nd chance at getting my hands on the 64GB specs ... This 2nd round of restock is my 2nd chance and I was all ready to settle with the Silver but good thing that the Space Grey was still available!

Indeed, it is and the 1st time I saw it, I kinda liked it! 
The staff in Machines, even open up the package, just to let me touch the product and I quite like the rubberized-plastic feel of it. It provides a good grip over the phone; and I was searching, high and low, for the compatible version of the same brand for the iPhone SE but there isn't any.
Instead, the staff directed me to the Apple's iPhone SE Leather Case (Black) which is RM189!

Oh yeah, tell me about it. I can't imagine myself using either of the other 2 colors as well. Nothing wrong with it; just not my taste.
